Absolutely call Kimble if you have excavating, concrete, foundation, or masonry work. Kimble’s quote was very fair, work was done faster than expected, and they even finished the project slightly under budget.

Here are the details: We had a retaining wall that was past its end of life and a crawl space behind it that we really wanted to turn into usable space. We drafted designs for what’s called a crawl space dig-out. Contractors were either not interested or gave quotes that were outrageous. Kimble, however, had done this type of work in the past, offered advice, and provided a quote and timeline that were very reasonable.

Note: I have a long background in construction and engineering. It was clear Kimble had the necessary experience and knowledge.

On the very first day, Rodger (owner/operator) showed up on time with his crew and equipment. These guys worked nonstop, every day, from start to finish. There were even two rain days when I was sure they would take a break. Yet, they showed up, scraped the top layer, and kept going. As the crew was excavating, they fully shored up the house with essentially no repair work needed to the existing structure (very uncommon). Project issues that came up were communicated and resolved quickly. Rodger did a great job getting resources to the site on time and coordinating with his crew and the masons.

A quick note about concrete: Kimble poured footers, a full slab, and a patio to replace the original. Concrete is difficult. A lot depends on the temperature, humidity, and what the concrete supplier brings to you onsite—much of which is out of the contractor’s control. Even if these conditions are perfect, settling can and will take place, which leads to cracks. Kimble did an amazing job with the concrete, even entertaining my request for California borders. Pretty much all the cracks that have formed over the years did so along the control joints.

Long story short, Kimble did outstanding work. They may not have the flair of the big names in the area, but if you need serious work done, Kimble should be on your list.

I had a 25 foot pad installed in front of my garage. After staying off the concrete for 2 months and watering nightly as directed. 2 of the 4 panels that were poured had surface pops in the concrete. The installer blames the concrete company and after talking to Roanoke Concrete manager he blames the installer. At the end of the day I have concrete that I get to look at every day that looks like it was installed by a 10 year old. After contacting the owner I was told that I would receive a visit to assess and provide options last August. No call no show. The solution is replace the 2 sections and fix my everyday eye sore. I am not the concrete expert or I would have poured these pads myself. Not real happy with Kimble concrete. If my wife would have written this review it would have been way less politically correct.

The Kimble crew did a fantastic job. They rebuilt a 40 foot section of foundation wall and added a sump pump and French drains.
They showed up first thing every morning and came everyday until the job was done to perfection. It took less than a week.
They cleaned up their mess and even power washed our driveway when they were finished.
We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend them for your jobs.

They are working at an apartment we live at. They came banging on our doors at 9am asking to move cars but didn’t say where. We kindly asked them to back their truck up 2 feet so we could get in we were told no because they were pouring concrete I then blocked their truck in because it was the nearest spot to the apartment only then did they back their truck up. 2 hours go by they move their trucks but still have not poured concrete. There are people who work all shifts here and you make it a big deal to have to move 2 feet so people can get in and out. I hope nobody has an emergency because we would have to fight you to get our vehicles out. Definitely do not recommend. I gave 1 star because zero is not an option.

Jerry & Roger are fun to work with. I highly recommend Kimble Excavating if you have an upcoming excavating, concrete, foundation, demolition, or driveway project. Their slogan, "No job too big or too small" rings true. They can also provide alternative solutions to the particular needs of almost any excavation project. Give them a call!

We called to get some dirt removed after having a pool installed. I specifically told them what we had done and asked if that was something them could do. They said yes, but when Gerald called back, he said he wouldn't even waste his time looking at it because he would want 300-500 minimum. So much for "no job too big or too small".

What a RIP off. Ipayed 1200 dollars for one hour of work. Excavated a 24ft.x14ft.x6in. and fill with ca6. I told them I was putting a 20ftx12ft portable garage on it. Went to put the garage on it and foundation was 10 inches from one end to the other from being level. I called him to complain and he refused to fix it. I had to hire another contractor to fix the problem

I have had the Kimbles do several jobs on the farm from spreading gravel to installing a hydrant. They are fast, reliable, and stand by their work. Kimble Landscaping and Excavating do excellent work.
