If you want some actual education beyond just learning how to pass a test, Kish is for you! I believe if you are willing to learn, the instructors here will teach you! The experience of the instructors will be an added benefit to your course. They are not producing test passers. They are producing drivers.

Value:

Some say that you get what you pay for. But, this program is quite competitive with their pricing vs. the big CDL companies. It will be worth your while to entertain getting your CDL at Kish!

Benefits:

Newer Trucks! They have Volvo tractors which are only a couple years old. They are well maintained!

Their trailers are sound and properly inspected.

Did I mention the experience of the instructors? My instructor has over 40 years of industry experience as well as sound knowledge which will help you well past passing your driving exam.

Their administrative person is very prompt at answering questions as you're trying to make a decision. She will not badger you, like other schools did to me, into attending Kish. I personally appreciated this since I had been recently laid off and I had enough stress going on.

The setting:

Imagine, if you will, a relaxed environment in the middle of rural DeKalb County. That is what you get. The school is surrounded by open farmland. An idealic setting to learn in! Ask about Fred "Gear Jammin" Fly... 😂 You will learn to drive big rig in the country, on the open highway, and in the suburbs. Relaxation is a key to learning and you get that with Kish!

I am very happy with my experience at Kish, and I highly recommend this school vs. the more expensive CDL Mills that just turn out test passers (My personal opinion based upon my research prior to signing up.) Take it from me. You will not regret learning to be a DRIVER at Kishwaukee!

So far I have really enjoyed this school. It has been 20 years since I took college classes. Math is hard to get back into for me but My Algerbra teacher is always willing to answer any questions and I don't like writing papers but my biology teacher enjoys reading them so much it's kinda fun. I am almost sad these classes will be over because all my teachers are so supportive. Reading comments about credits not transferring, my counselor did tell me up front I'd need to complete my associates in science before transferring to a bigger school so the credits count.

This place definitely is strict on Covid-19 protocol and clean. That's alwasy good to know considering the flow of people. I was here for CDL class and that was in the back lot right by the TOWER, you can't miss it.

My daughter loves it here. I love and trust the staff. It’s also very cleanly! Which is a huge bonus, when considering a daycare... Not to mention, their curriculum for the day/ for a preschool is great too. I would definitely recommend! Take a tour, check it out. I’m also aware that they accept 4-C, which I know can be helpful for some families. Just look into it, it’s a great daycare!!

Went there years ago, but it still holds to it's same terrible level of it's own. If I didn't get my credits transferred when I did they would not have been considered transferable. Even when I went back to school and needed to send them in I had to fight with my graduating college to have them accept two of the classes I took from here and the person whom I spoke with said that they were fighting them because of the terrible reputation that Kishwaukee has and they didn't want to accept any of their credits and they don't anymore. The saving grace is that the credits were from 2008, if they were any younger I would not have qualified. The two were a basic Chem course and a Basic level math. I also took a test to qualify me out of a higher math so since I had that they figured I was competent enough in math for that math course to count.
This school also doesn't have any licensed guidance counselors so they can't offer you any real degree program assistance, but that is kinda the point, they want you to waist your money there.
DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL!!!! Even if you think you might save money, you wont and other colleges WILL question the courses, even the state accredited ones which should be transferable to any college.
Also, any college can deny any course for any reason and they are the final say. After going through college, after attending community colleges, me and my husband can both say that the best call you can make is to start off in the college you are planning to graduate from. If you need to go to community college to raise your GPA before going to the college you want, DO NOT take any courses based on a major you are seeking, just take Gen Ed courses.
My husband's college turned down half of his courses for his major just because they wanted to, even though they should have been accepted, all in an effort to keep him there for longer. The truth of the matter is that he could have graduated with a slightly better major in 3.5 years if he had just simply started with his Four year school vs the five years it took to get a slightly less marketable degree because it would have taken another year.
Never forget, colleges care about making money too, they are just as shady as any other greedy corporation so treat them as such when you consider how long you want to go and where you want to go.

Horrible community college run by a top heavy administration that makes poor finically decisions.

Like so many other community colleges the pay for adjuncts is incredibly bad. Your class may be taught by someone making very little to point where they might quit mid early or late semester for better work which is literally just about any other job.

I would never recommend this college to anyone unless your going into their nursing program which they seem to care about (emphasis on seem to care about).

Very low standards overall stay away.

Sad school that teaches you how to fail . They do not care about anything but money and make that evidently clear only once you’ve paid enough . Sad workers who don’t act like they have a family at home, poor performance from instructors doing an actual job teaching, it’s more so an environment where you buy to sit and read materials you can find for free in the library. Go to a school and get into debt if you want an education becuase this is a one stop shop for non graduation , drop outs and TROUBLED children at KEC.
