Lake County Building and Zoning has been very helpful. There are goofy rules and regulations that are out of their control. I appreciate their sympathetic attitude and ability to help navigate and abide by the regulations set forth by completely different people and departments. Working with any government agency always has potential for frustration and dead ends. The employees at Lake County are very helpful and efficient.

In any government office you get those dedicated to public service and those that can't find employment anywhere else. This place got all the second type. General comedy of errors and standard incompetent government employees.

Make no mistake, this place exists to be a revenue source. It took three weeks to get a permit and my original plans did not change one bit. They added nothing of value to the entire process. The inspectors, as a whole, have trouble keeping their stories straight. And heaven help you if you have stairs.

If you can stay away from and never deal with these people -do. If you are compelled (for that is the only way anyone walks into this place) to deal with these people, I'm sorry.

Have a serious offender next door that tore down exterior walls-and supposedly redid the foundation that was falling down.All under their noses would start friday at 5pm and end sunday at 10pm with 15 people over their.Called and left several messages here.No one returns emails or phone calls-no one ever answers the phone just a scam no one here to help the people who pay taxes and follow rules.Oh the walls were replaced because the fireplace caught fire and they rebuilt all of that with no permits,so obviously you dont need a permit to do anything in your house,even at the safety of your neighbors.
