We moved into 1836 Colby in mid-January. Despite having to deal with the chaos of the fires and a technical glitch with my husband's application, Val was incredibly helpful and got us into our apartment in record time.

She was also super responsive and helpful when the rental portal was not yet updated, and we had a maintenance request. She submitted the request for us even though it was a weekend evening.

We are so grateful for Val, the maintenance crew, and others at Wisemen!

We have been in 1836 colby avenue for two years now and val our manager is the best. She renewed our contract very easily and is always available for whatever we need. She is very caring and professional and checks the building constantly to make sure all is well. During the fire she kept messaging us making sure we were safe and monitored the situation closely. Overall a wonderful experience its a pleasure having you as our building manager val thanks for all your hard work. 🌸🌸🌸

Just reiterating what a lot of the reviews here have said. By far the most unprofessional, unresponsive management. Our building manager is completely useless. Not sure what she does or what she’s being paid for. She’s totally unreliable. I just called the corporate office for an urgent plumbing issue that I’ve already had a couple of times prior and the receptionist was so rude for no reason. Sorry that this is your job? There have been so many instances where they’ve been unresponsive to issues like smoking cigarettes in the building, the stairwell door and building door being JAMMED and unable to open while the fire alarm was going off, and the fire department confirming when they got there that it was not up to code. The building I live in is in a great location so I’m still here but I can’t get over how unprofessional and incompetent management is. I had my friend reach out to check out a unit and when she was desperately looking for a place (of course they respond to a possible tenant sale but not current tenant issues) and the unit reeked so badly of cigarettes we both had to wear masks and were so disgusted. The trash chute has been broken for almost a year and still has not been fixed. It gets stuck open and the floor REEKS of hot garbage. I couldn’t log into my resident portal for a year and I had reached out dozens of times about it without any type of proactive or efficient resolution. My auto payment ended up expiring without me realizing it so my rent was late. This call with the crass woman at the main office just pushed me to write this overdue review

Recently moved out after living at Stoner Homes for 2+ years. The building was pretty well kept and maintenance requests were always addressed very quickly. The resident manager, Zad, NEVER answered his phone and has only responded once out of probably 15 times I’ve emailed him, but I was often able to get help from the people in the leasing office instead - Jacob was exceptionally helpful and really on top of things. Having an unresponsive RM was super frustrating, but overall I was happy with my living experience.

BEWARE!!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!

Currently dealing with Wiseman Residential & Dorthy Village LLC as a tenant. This company is completely unprofessional and dismissive of tenant rights. Despite providing a valid 30-day notice to vacate in accordance with California law, they have outright refused to accept it, demanding things that are not legally required, like roommate consent or replacement tenants.

Their refusal to follow basic tenant protections has caused significant stress and wasted time. I’m appalled at the lack of accountability and disregard for legal obligations. This company’s behavior is negligent and unethical.

If you have the choice, I would NOT rent from this company. I had to spend days moving and stressing about learning tenant rights laws since they were misleading me about the lease so I had to figure out my rights myself. Much easier and less stressful and time saving to just not rent from this company.

The worst management company in LA. They use the cheapest building material in their properties. The buildings are poorly constructed. Constant issues with leaks and broken appliances. Customer service is terrible. Alex is extremely rude and unprofessional. Their rent is cheaper for a reason. You get what you pay for.

Would avoid Wiseman at all cost. Just moved into one of their units and have never dealt with company as unprofessional and scammy as them.

They changed the lease terms on us after it was completed. They included additional rent and monthly fees after signing and moving into the unit. To make matters worse the unit is crawling with termites/roaches and the entire building shakes when a truck drives by.

Better off else where. If wiseman is your last resort - you’re probably better off under the 405 as conditions and treatment are likely similar
