This firm suffers from seriously poor decision-making skills. Todd Interests thinks that people will be willing to buy a house for $5 to $7 million in Freestone County? A quick search for land in Freestone shows that you can buy 400+ acres for $2.5 million. At that price discrepancy, any rational person would just buy the land and develop it themselves. Freestone isn't the Texas Hill County, there aren't attractions in this rural area that will make people want to purchase homes at that price. This fact is especially true if the county no longer has a state park, its one main tourist attraction. It's also safe to say that these homes would be meant as vacation homes as the county does not have residents who earn enough income to purchase multi-million dollar homes. This means that the golf course and restaurant the firm plans to develop along with the 400 homes would sit idle for most of the year, making it difficult for them to bring in enough revenue to stay open. Additionally, why does the Freestone Club need to be gated? It's located in an area where even Google Maps doesn't travel, are the security guards supposed to spend their time keeping out racoons and squirrels? Or maybe the supposed ghosts from the nearby cemeteries? If the Freestone Club succeeds, then the county still lost a beloved recreational site but may have made the right move economically. However, I follow economic development news closely and have never once seen a project so wildly out of step with the local economy. Most likely, Freestone County destroyed their state park for a project that's doomed to failure and Todd Interests' ethical and intellectual failings will become apparent.

Freestone county resident currently and for the foreseeable future. All the 1-Star reviews need to be directed at the STATE. The State had more than ample opportunity to purchase the land that the park sits on and keep it open. No matter how you feel about the future of the park, you cannot blame Todd Interests for the States lack of action. Only after the purchase and plans became a public spectacle did people start finding an issue with it. Eminent domain is not the answer. The State shouldn’t get to commit constitutional theft because of their inaction. There is no moral high ground in saving a park using eminent domain because of public outcry.

Fairfield lake State park is the biggest attraction to Freestone county and the people of Fairfield. Every year thousands of anglers, campers, nature lovers, and even people who want to get away from a busy urban environment visit this State Park because of its isolation and how peaceful it. Now, a multi billion dollar real estate devolvement firm wants to get rid of that charm. Instead of building a community around the success of the State Park Todd Interest wants to build on top of it. Economically this doesn't make sense because if there was an attraction it could increase the value of these homes and boost the local economy that was already there. Without Fairefield lake State Park many business that depend on visitors will be gone and for the people that own these homes will realise that there's nothing to do in this community because its main attraction and businesses are gone. Good job Todd you really thought it through with this one.

If I could give a negative review I would. Todd Interests is trying to rob the citizens of the state of Texas of Fairfield State Park's natural beauty, fishing, camping and most importantly of a Freedman's Cemetery for their own profit. They plan to build a gated community with a golf course, therefore stopping current and future generations from enjoying the beauty and history of the park and damaging the ecology and economy of Fairfield. Don't even get me started on water rights. The greed and utter disregard of Todd Interests towards the community, ecology and park itself is shocking and sickening.

Apparently greed is more important than preserving natural beauty. I used to camp at Fairfield State Park with my young son (he is an adult now) and created great memories of fishing, and watching the deer run freely. Now that will only be appreciated by those rich enough to own a small piece of it. Shame on you Todd Interest.

I hope all of your endeavors fail. Which it will. No wealthy person is going to want to live in Fairfield you morons. It's too far away from anywhere or anything. Thanks for destroying a beloved state park where normal, everyday people could go to get away and camp. I can't wait to write another review in a few years laughing at how much your company is going to lose when this fails.

Fairfield State park is one of my favorite state parks, and it's actually close to where I live. I am truly saddened a company's greed would destroy this beautiful land. 25 million should be more than enough and they still want more. Disgusting. I hope the worst for Todd Interests.

The agency illegally purchased Fairfield state park to build unaffordable houses. The Texas government didn't fight hard enough to stop the development, and save the state park. Todd interests are land destructive thugs.
