If you wonder why Scotts Valley is continually loosing its character and community flavor, you need look no further than "Pratt Development" who's recent project in the former "Kmart" mall has driven out 7 community oriented small businesses. The company's claim, that the businesses were ousted for late rent, didn't hold water when it was revealed that those who never missed a payment were also ousted. It's the same old story. Replace mom-and-pop businesses with big-revenue corporate businesses.

Pratt previously bought the shopping mall across the street, did the same thing and then resold the mall for a BIG profit. This predatory practice is likely the plan with their current project.

I have been a resident in Scotts Valley where you are developing a shopping center with a Target store. I was devastated to learn you have driven out 7 local businesses who have been in our community for years!!! You have done permanent damage to our community. I am so alarmed by how you do business! Don't come back again and do more damage.
