Update: In response to the owner response.
1. When someone closely related to management shoots up OUR HOME, and you force us into maintaining a lease after violating our safety and telling us borderline nothing, hiring one overnight security dude is NOT the way to indicate that residents are your priority. You are blatantly disregarding our well-being, especially after having shipped off or fired all of the management that was here at the time. At this point, it is covering your own tail.
2. The new management team is significantly worse with communication, as they aren't allowed to tell us anything regarding the management situation of our property aside from "I don't know" and "We are temporary".
3. Improving resident satisfaction would be letting them amicably leave a property instead of being strung along by and forced into staying in a lease with a shady and unprofessional company that doesn't even support it's own staff, let alone its residents, and let the property degrade to this situation in the first place.

---

I would not suggest this apartment complex to anyone. Unfortunately, the Aston North Scottsdale is a terribly run and horribly unsecured property, and the Connor Group has done nothing to improve this but lock people into binding leases through shady, manipulative tactics and neglect its residents.

My biggest grievance is the DOMESTIC SHOOTING that occurred on property Halloween night including several individuals from MANAGEMENT and MAINTENANCE. The Connor Group handled the situation horribly thereafter. Instead of transparently informing residents of the incident and offering us an option to peacefully vacate our leases, after the safety and security of our home had been breached by those responsible with keeping it, but the Connor Group did not even inform residents of the full situation. A short email was sent out informing us of a “domestic incident” and extra security and police expected to be around. They then fired the entire on-site staff, either shipping them off across the country or removing them from their positions and the property.

It is unfair to put residents through such a traumatic experience, and then leave them out to dry in this manner with no reasonable option out. The Connor Group does not even have an early termination clause in their leases, you are simply required to pay the remainder of the term. I am appalled by the Connor Group and the way it has treated its residents.

On top of this, in less than a year at the Aston I have experienced(to include, but not limited to):

- Overly aggressive sales tactics, scaring residents into renewing due to “high demand in prices” that haven’t changed in months
- Delivery drivers leaving packages all over the property, rarely in lockers as they almost never have access to the proper areas to deliver.
- Residents partying and having sexual relations in the pool area all night, disturbing other residents.
- A perpetual beeping in the parking garage that can be easily heard throughout the apartment complex, disturbing residents in their sleep.
- The health department had to shut down the pool due to improper maintenance and cleaning.
- Multiple broken doors on the property (that took months to be repaired).
- A hardly maintained trash area.

The Connor Group needs to do better, and at least offer residents a reasonable way out when they ask.

Gun shootings, dog poop everywhere, and several people being scammed into renting from here (see below and other reviews) are just the tip of the iceberg at the Aston Scottsdale.

This is my personal experience from living at this community for 12 months!

I’ve lived in California and Colorado the last 10 years. I moved back last year because my mom got breast cancer. I came to look at the Aston in a pretty messy headspace due
to what was happening with my mom. I looked at the Aston from Tommy, he had me fill out an addendum or something (NOT the full lease) I didnt realize I was signing part of the
lease or whatever it was because I was never explained that..but I dont think it was the fuil lease. Anyways I hadn’t “committed” (or so I thought in my own mind) to the Aston as I was still looking at other places and then I got a call from Marc. He was the RUDEST leasing person Ive ever dealt with in my life. He asked what I spent my money on to not have that much $ in the bank (not that my finances are his business but moving states and helping my mom with treatments costs) and he was talking down to me about my “quality” to rent here. First of all what a joke because this building  has been ANYTHING but quality. Mind you prior I was living in LA in a $3500 a month high-rise yet my finances weren’t “enough” for the Aston?

Then I decided I was NOT moving into this place with such disrespect. I called Tommy he said “you have no choice you signed the lease” I was shocked because a lease is PAGES you sign online not a 1 page thing I “initialed” in person. He was super rude and I then felt FORCED to live here. Now I’m SURE I could’ve fought this but because of where my mind and life was with helping my mom through cancer I said fine I’ll live here maybe it’ll be a better experience when I move in…but oh was I wrong…

Now I’ll list my personal problems with the building, the management and the community as a whole:

*The air has broke in my apt 3 times and once in the middle of the summer.
*The amazon/ delivery drivers leave stuff everywhere rarely in lockers.
*Roaches.
*Thin walls and floors you’ll hear music all night, people sneezing and walking around.
*Some people get free extra fobs, others it’s $50, others it’s $100.
*Trash left in halls for days.
*Poop everywhere
*The health dept shut down the pool
*$200 amenity electric including $100 trash fee *The building is SURROUNDED by homeless and neighbors have gotten jumped in the gym bathroom from them walking in the broken doors.
*The elevators are always broken and for days at a time.

Tons more but yelp only lets so many words per review.

Last but not least! The SHOOTING!! a shooting occurred here, November 1, 2024 involving the management and the maintenance team. It wasn’t even from the tenants. It was from the people who run this place.

This is one of the worst communities I’ve ever lived in and the Connor group and management could care less about you. They’re all about money and they care zero about anything else. Look elsewhere and do not sign anything if you choose to tour this place.

This Apartment complex has NO SECURITY. If your drunk neighbors at the pool are being too loud at the pool past midnight tough luck. If they are pllaying loud music at 1am, nothing can be done.

The police do not come for noise complaints.

When I signed the lease, I was told there would be 24-hour Security. Three months after I moved in, the Security company was released and no one has taken their place.

Tommy and Janelle have tried and tried to get them replaced, but Corporate are greedy and don't want to pay for it.

Considering how much we pay...this should be a non-starter.

Dear Connor Group,

What is this copy paste response? You posted the exact same response on Yelp.

Me and several other residents have reached out to management several times - yet we were all met with the same answer...it's up to Corporate, who are not inclined to hire another Security Service....they want to keep costs down —despite the extreme rents they charge and fees for all the amenities used. In addition to the 100$ they charge for trash when they fired Valet Trash and now use in house maintenance to empty our garbage.

And don’t get started on the pool. They are having pool parties with the pool pictures below. The pool has been like this for a month. Many residents complaining and nothing being done. The least they could do was hire a professional pool cleaner. Instead they had their maintenance staff clean the pool. And the results are below. The Health department ended up shutting it down.

All these cutting corners will add up. And if someone gets hurt on the property for the lack of Security here, The Connor Group will be held liable. And this review warning will be admissible in court. Dated.

Would never think about checking this place out as a resident. Seen the building from outside and thought it was very nice and the layout however, front receptionist was not helpful at all. As a receptionist, you are the front line of the community. The first person we see coming in the door in the last person coming out the least she can do is be helpful. I’ve found more helpful receptionist in Apartments half the price

Tommy the manager is awesome! He gets it done and very fast! He's very professional, doesn't have the "iduhno" answer ever. He knows his property and leasing processes to a T. Tommy is a very valuable asset to the company. Thanks for making our move a seamless transition. Excellent property! AAA+++

This place is fantastic, everything from the office staff in leasing, to the maintenance crew to the aesthetically pleasing property itself, will be staying here as long as I'm living in the Scottsdale area. The dog park areas are top notch and the grass well kept, the property is clean not a piece of litter on site. Would recommend to anyone
Hannah was my initial contact there and made the entire transition seamless so big shoutout to her

UPDATE Thanksgiving morning 2024: the police have been to the building at least 3-4 times since Halloween. There was a shooting, a fight on Halloween, loud music, and several domestic issues. Once again this morning a woman was yelling at 4:30am at the security guard in the lobby. Seems like they let anyone move here.

I used to love living here. I was one of the first people to move in when it was Alta and under better management. These apartment complexes tend to go downhill after the first couple years. Everything breaks, people are rude, it’s dirty. It took them months to clear out the back where all the weeds were overgrown and trees were uprooted from a bad storm. People let their dogs poop in the hall way and on the walkway. There was a dog who had diarrhea in the entry way of the door that leads outside and the owner left it there. Someone stole something out of one of my packages and management said they’d look at the cameras and they never did or followed up with me. My favorite part about living here is the jerk who brings his massive stereo out to the pool and blasts music for the entire complex to hear!!!! he just continues to do it and I’m not sure why he thinks everyone wants to hear his music for hours non stop. Especially when I have to sleep because I work night shift 🙂 the utilities keep increasing every month not sure why, our bill is $20-$30+ higher every month. I also love when the fire alarms go off at 5:40am. There are crickets and grass hoppers everywhere inside the complex. And the city shut down the pool for a few weeks because it turned green! I cannot wait until my lease is up.

Go up
