It is most difficult to find rentals these days so it may seem like you have no choice but to go with this company. Please think twice. They are the most unethical and downright despicable company I have ever worked with. My daughter is unable to make the rent payments because she is struggling to find a job. She has to relocate and they are charging her the remainder of her rent totaling almost $14,000. They will go after her credit and she is just starting out in life. They are threatening and horrific. Please please find another place to call home that does not involve Syrus Properties.

This place is a disgrace and should be sued for false advertising. Hailee at the front desk is beyond rude & manipulative, the managers of our complex could not give a care in the world about the wasp infestation in the pool & stairwell. My roommate and I were shown one beautiful apartment on the 2nd floor to be given a dirty, disgusting, mold, rust, and bug infested 5th floor apartment we never took a look at. When told they tricked us into this lease they retaliated noting that we signed it and they will use it against us since ā€œwe didn't do enough researchā€ (quote from Hailee) YOU LITERALLY SHOWED US A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT APARTMENT. Asked about the parking (we have to PAY for) and they said they had no availability in the lots even though no one parks down there with 30 available spots. Our balcony is sinking from mold and our ceiling fan is going to rip out. They give different responses and lies to my roommate and I with every other individual phone call. I’ve spoken with a lot of tenants and they all feel the same. Please send a meteor to the office, these people are useless
To add: The laundry room is actually horrific. 3 broken machines, leaking waste & water pipes above your head from the apartments above that reek, and all of these issues and they only ever fixed the door hinge.

Worst property management to exist in Sonoma county. They don’t fix any maintenance for months after continuous calls

I have rented apartments for the past ten years in several different locations in Northern California. This is the most distant, unhelpful, and confusing rental company I have ever dealt with. The company seems as though it is run by a couple who hire the least amount of help possible to maximize their personal profits. It results in awful communication and services, to the detriment of both parties. They seem incredibly unhappy, and I can confirm that their tenants are as well. I understand the necessity of needing a place to live, but to add to the cacophony of other former residents voicing their displeasure, I would ask you to reconsider engaging with this business. Awful experience.

I’m was a single mom looking for an affordable place for my daughter & I. Haille was super patient and efficient when talking with me and going over different options. She didn’t once pressure me into signing anything and was very kind when I ultimately stayed in my current place. I would 100% use Haille and Syrus the next time I’m in the need to move!

They took over our rental agreement and the switch over was just a nightmare. Their admin person was extremely rude over email and kept demanding a money transfer because they didn’t have their online system set up properly.

Very unprofessional and very poor customer service

Honestly not even worth the one star. My unit is nonstop falling apart with mold issues. Resident managers are rude. The people who answer the phones are distasteful. They do not care about their current tenants, they will not care about you.

Look…

I was a tenant of theirs for nearly 9 years, and my overall experience with them was mostly positive. I lucked out and didn’t have a lot of interactions with the office staff, therefore my living experience was mostly care-free.

They do offer decent apartment units at a fair price (at least in the complex I lived in), and the few times I had a maintenance issue, they were prompt in sending someone to fix the problem

The woman in charge of the office, Tracy, yes - she can be moody, but that depends on how you approach her. If you’re calm and collective with her, she’ll be more likely to be calm and collective with you and that’s been my experience with the office in general.

BUT…. I moved out mid-May and that’s when the troubles really began. I gave them over a months notice & they replied with the ā€œmove outā€ packet and instructions.. cool.

- About two weeks before moving out, the resident manager’s wife offered to do a ā€œpre-inspection walk throughā€ of my unit, which was awesome. She was amazing to work with and I appreciated her feedback.

Prior to her visit I should add I had hired a professional cleaner to come clean the apartment and the resident manager’s wife was shocked how clean it looked. I just needed to change a few light bulbs, and a fix a few odds and ends, which I did after she left.

I made an appointment with the resident manager for a few days later (which required me to take a day off of work to drive back to the building), which would include the final walk through, handing back the keys, gate opener, and also providing them with my new address (to which I’d assume they would be sending me my portion of my move-in deposit to after).

The manager never showed…. Despite me calling him, and emailing him. This was a Saturday, and after many attempts of contacting him, and Syrus, two hours later, I left with the keys inside the unit and a photo attached in an email explaining I couldn’t wait any longer and that the keys were left inside the apartment.

Monday (mind you, still in mid-May), I do get an email back from the manager saying he was sorry - they had a family emergency…. Sure, okay, I get it, those happen, but he had my contact info, and knew I’d be driving from San Francisco to Santa Rosa for this and could have at least emailed. I would have been fine just leaving the keys in a drop box rather than killing 2 hours.

Now… about my deposit. I still have yet to receive it. Today is the 20th of July, and the office claims they mailed it out on the 29th of May.. but the kicker is, they claim by law they have to mail it to the old address, the one I just moved out of? Well, I had USPS mail forwarding activated and actually had paid for extended mail forwarding…. You’d think it’d just be forwarded like the rest of the mail has from that address right? Well, no…. Apparently not, because I still have yet to receive it…. It was hard to convince them to even check to see if it had been cashed with their bank (to check and see if someone else cashed it fraudulently), which it hasn’t. And I’ve emailed them three separate times now asking them to re-draft the check now since it hasn’t been cashed and it seems to be a case of ā€œit’s lost in the mail,ā€ and just send it to my address in San Francisco, but at this point they’re no longer responding to me…

About ready to look into legal options now, as I’ve documented each time I’ve contacted them with no response on their end…. And it’s such a shame because I really did have a decent tenancy with them overall.

So buyer beware.
