We leased a studio apartment at Parkway. None of the students except Freshman are guaranteed housing next school year, so we had to start leasing now, even though we’re not using it this summer. We were already bummed about that, so it says a lot that despite the situation, the leasing agents made the process very pleasant. Brianna and Jessica were very responsive, professional, and friendly. The apartment was as expected, and cleaner than expected with new paint. It’s very close to the university. The grounds were lovely and well cared for with trees, flowers, grass, picnic tables, bbq’s for outdoor grilling, and a small waterfall. There were lots of birds singing. It was quiet at night. We felt safe there.

Been renting from them for 6 years. Never had a bad experience with them the ladies in the front office I have never had an issue with. Simone worked with my subsidize housing program and helped me get off the streets. The studio I live in is a little small and the walls are thin but other than that no real complaints at all. With my bad credit they were willing to give me a chance and here I am still. Thank you Strombeck.

Slumlord, ripoff, wrongful charges. Ignored me multiple times when trying to extend lease a couple months. Ignored my claim for tenant referral and failed to pay bonus they advertised. Increased my deposit by $300 even though they made me use a co-signer. Charged excess rent of $29.16 even though I paid for full term in person. Theft. Charged $374 for “cleaning” on a 200 sqft room that I already cleaned. Unit was covered in dirt and mold when I moved in. Dragged their feet on returning what was left of my deposit preventing me from finding a new place to live. They tried to increase my rent higher than I could afford. Created another homeless veteran. Sick of corporate greed and shady business practices. Will look into BBB. Despite strombeck reply, I did turn in inspection sheet, there was zero confusion, and I paid full rent in person based on information from office personnel. They also listed my unit available before I left which resulted in strangers peering into my unit while I still resided there. Thieves will justify their garbage. I got ripped off. Also their parking pass melted to my window tint and ruined it.

Personally, I did not feel entirely safe while I lived at Meadowbrook. There are quite a few addicts and people with severe mental illness cohabitating on the premises. A resident barged into my house and ran upstairs "looking for his girlfriend" and the property did nothing about it except tell me to lock my doors in the future. Ambulance and police officers visited frequently. The upside is that it is somewhat affordable in the pocket of a great neighborhood and is a close commute to campus to help save on gas. The maintenance is somewhat prompt and administrative staff are cordial. I moved out once I finished graduate school, and am now being told I owe money on top of my $1,500 deposit for “cleaning” and other charges despite taking care of a unit that is pretty outdated. They used my deposit to cover the costs of their operating expenses such as remodeling the floor, replacing drip pans, and painting the unit. I read the reviews about this and spoke to a couple friends who rented from Strombeck prior and was able to create a paper trail and take photos to protect myself from anything. I would recommend you do the same in advance if you decide to rent from Strombeck.

I have rented with Strombeck for about four years now and I would definitely recommend them. They are reasonable about most stuff especially when you communicate with them. They are compliant and friendly towards documented assistance or service animals. They keep their properties up to date and maintenance responds quickly to requests even when it's not an emergency. The only reason I took one star off is some of their apartments can be over priced for the amount of square feet and in the Hidden Grove 459 building the smoke detectors are a few feet from the stove so naturally they go off all the time. Overall I have had a very positive experience with them. Updated: I decided to change my rating from four stars to five stars because they really are that much better than other landlords. After my recent experiences with
different landlords I now realize how wonderful Strombeck truly is. They are really the best you can find in Humboldt. I no longer feel their units are over priced because of the outstanding service they give. Jessica and Briana ( and really everyone in the office) are truly wonderful people. We recently moved out and accidentally left some items behind. Not only did they hold these items for us, they also shipped them to us. They had every legal right to toss the items but instead they went above and beyond for us. I seriously can not say enough kind things. I HIGHLY recommend Strombeck.

They led me on having me do paperwork and getting cosigners for 3 weeks only to tell me when i was about to sign the holding agreement that it was an issue that i had a baby. Not only was my baby on my application, they also asked about my baby for the multiple weeks we were in contact. They said i could sign the $300 holding agreement and if they decided to rent to me it would go towards the deposit but if not i would lose that money. This wouldnt be a problem if they didnt make it clear i was either nor going to get the place due to my baby or that they would likely have to talk to me and possibly evict me if my baby was too loud.

They charged me $491 for cleaning they said they had to do to the carpet. The apartment was infested with fleas when I moved in.They said there were burn marks in the shower and on the sink in the bathroom I don't smoke. They charged me for other things that were already done in the apartment when I moved in. They only gave me half of my deposit back. This company lies and they need to get better management. The carpets were not cleaned when I moved in and I brought it to the Management's attention and he said he would take care of it once again and let the girls in the office know that's all he ever said was I'll let the girls in the office know but yet I was charged half of my deposit on an apartment that was already in poor condition when I moved in I will be going to the better Business bureau on them. My niece warned me about living there but I had nowhere else to go then to rent from Meadowbrook I would advise anybody that moves into this complex or any of the strong back properties to make sure you take a copy of the list
that you make of what was wrong with the apartment so they don't try to rip you off like they ripped me off

Rented a studio at their Parkway apartments. Experience was mostly good. Apartment was nice and clean, but small (expected). They responded very promptly to all maintenance requests. The exception being a particular neighbor that was disturbing people and clearly breaking direct regulations in the lease agreement. This persisted for many months. Despite complaints by multiple residents, the antics kept up and the resident was "allowed" to continue disturbing people (even threatening people's lives).

Overall, great experience except for their lack of ability to enforce their own lease agreement in that one case.
