We were matched with Scott DuBeau of RE/MAX via Zillow when we were looking to buy a home. We toured the house with Scott and felt like it was a great match. We were having issues with the real estate agent that listed our home and did not want to continue working with him in the purchase of a new home. In meeting Scott, we were not upfront with our situation as we were hesitant on working with any agent due to the issues we had faced. When we decided to put an offer in on the home, we explained to Scott our situation and that we would really like to work with him in purchasing a home. Things went well and he was on our side to get us through attorney review. When it came time for inspection, he provided an inspector that has since been discovered missed a couple of big-ticket items. We also ended up having a septic inspection which showed major issues. When the sellers were unwilling to negotiate, the contract was voided. In this time, we were in a time crunch with the sale of our house to finding a home. Scott did not send one single home and it was us that sent homes to see to him. We were starting to feel like we were on our own. After a stressful month, the original home we were interested in contacted us and asked if we were still interested. We ended up negotiating the deal with the homeowners and Scott providing the official paperwork. We closed on January 22 without issues. After the walk-through Scott told us that he had to go home as his son was sick and that he would follow up with us later that week. We never heard from him again. It was not until we threatened to name him in the lawsuit with the inspector that he finally responded to our texts.

We have been in the process of selling our house and allowed agent Jim John Craparo from Re/Max of Tinton Falls to show his buyers our home 2 weeks ago 3/17. When walking into our home immediately after his showing, we noticed our entry way wall had been damaged, completely cracking through our drywall (see pictures). Only a large amount of force could have caused that amount of damage. There was absolutely no note left explaining the damage so had to call our agent to find out what had happened. She was able to speak with Jim early that same evening and told us that he did not deny causing the damage. In hindsight, he even had the opportunity to notify us in person because he had seen us drive into our driveway at the end of his showing (he and his buyers were talking on the street in front of our house for some time after their scheduled showing). The next morning we attempted to call Jim Craparo to find out what remediation he was going to supply for the damage he caused since we were still showing the house, but had to leave a voice mail. Shortly after, we received a text message that he was unable to take the call. When he did not return our phone call by mid afternoon, we called the agency office and was told by the woman answering the phone that the broker was out for the day and that she would call the next day. Marie did call the next day. She said she had heard about "our little dent" and continued during the course of the conversation to downplay the significance of the damage and even tried to shift the blame to us because of our lack of damage protection but when we pressed the issue, she asked how we wished to resolve the situation. When we stated that we wanted a professional to repair the damaged wall, she offered to have her contractor complete the repair, which we readily accepted. She called a day or 2 later(3/20 or 3/21) letting us know that we should be receiving a call from her contractor "Scott".

We have received no communications from anyone since.

Because we still had showings scheduled and it was apparent that no one from the Re/Max of Tinton Falls agency was going to repair it, we were forced to make the repair ourselves. And Jim Craparo never did communicate with us in any way to apologize or try to rectify the situation. We are very disappointed by the total disregard of the agent and his agency toward the damage done to our property with no apparent consideration of the inconvenience that his actions caused us. There was no accountability or responsibility taken for his actions...not even a simple note of apology. While we did appreciate that his broker, Marie, responded in a timely manner and offered a remedy, her initial downplaying of the damage and the end result of nothing being done left us with a very bad impression of this agent and this agency.
