I had an absolutely terrible experience with The Progressive Company and their management of Mountain Ridge at Sussex. From the start, I was misled about the unit’s amenities. The listing clearly stated a washer and dryer in-unit and new appliances, yet when I moved in, none of that was true. Instead, I was given a used, dented refrigerator and an apartment in subpar condition—closets that didn’t close, unpainted sections, and a poorly installed showerhead.

The management, specifically Peter Johnson, was condescending, dismissive, and completely unhelpful when I raised these concerns. Rather than addressing the false advertising, he acted as if he was doing me a favor by letting me leave, despite all the time and money I wasted.

This was a lottery apartment, and it’s clear that they financially discriminate against lower-income applicants. The treatment I received was degrading, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. If you’re considering moving here, stay far away—it’s not worth the stress, the unexpected expenses, or the feeling of being treated like a second-class tenant. Wish I could give 0 stars

I was a tenant in a property managed by this group. I paid my landlord for a parking spot. One day I had a rental car in my spot. Without myself or anyone else reporting a complaint, I was towed by Powder Mill Towing, the towing company that is contracted by the property manager. When I confronted the property managers about the predatory-towing issue, they did call Powder Mill for me and got $30 off of a $180 towing fee. I still had to pay Powder Mill $150 to get the rental back, towed from a parking spot that I had paid for. Obviously the towing company is ultimately to blame for their predatory towing ways, but considering I heard the same experience from multiple tenants, it'd be nice if the property management did something about it, such as change the towing company or towing policy.

Apparently human feces in the apartment building does not constitute enough of a serious risk to make anyone here do their jobs.

Our development was in financial trouble with our ex management company. The last 2 years that we have been using progressive management they have put us On the right track we are now in the black. Peter Johnson is our go to guy.We are extremely pleased with everything that he has accomplished for us.

These guys are terrible and act like slumlords. I was a week late on rent one time and I got a late fee, attorney fee for letter and threats of eviction.
