I lived here for 2 years and I can say all of the reviews are spot on. We liked living here until our last year. What we initially liked was that it is gated. But in all honesty the gate was consistently broken, and when it was actually working people would rush in behind us to get through. It stays open during office hours so anyone can drive/walk through. My husbands truck was stolen on this property and upon getting security footage, they had none because their cameras only face the leasing office. Plus, the mailboxes would get broken into and again no cameras back there. The maintenance was always prompt and so were the office girls for the most part. The stray cats was an issue also. The area I was in I was actually warned about the neighbor below us by another neighbor when we were moving in. He said she has problems with everyone and I took it lightly because that was his experience. She seemed friendly to us when we crossed paths the first year. However, our last year was bad with her it was like she snapped and didn’t remember who we were. She was clearly mentally ill including her daughter who would fight with each other constantly. Just very problematic and the office wouldn’t do anything about her erratic behavior. Claimed they have a file on her and implied they could evict her for all of the things they had on her. But they never did anything about her. It was terrible dealing with her and I was postpartum at the time. she even recorded my toddler and I on her phone as we walked by like we had done something to her. It was strange and I didn’t feel safe. So safety and management taking things seriously at this complex is a HUGE concern. Police presence was there more times than I can count. People shouting, a girl on top of her man’s hood as he drove out of the gates, police would come to our door to ask us about neighbors behind us telling us we should leave because we could be in the cross fire. People were always having parties in the pool area after 10pm and the ā€œsecurityā€ they have was never to be seen. Also, the parking there is terrible. They don’t give assigned parking except to those who are handicapped which is completely deserving. However, one tenant who was handicapped would literally park across the way and walk to her apartment and her guests would park in her parking which again the office had a ā€œfileā€ on but did nothing about. Also people were always smoking weed in the parking lots - not being mindful of anyone or even children. I also didn’t get hardly anything back from my deposit when the condition of our apartment was very well taken care of. Being a stay at home mom I’ve seen and heard it all living there and we just had to leave because safety is everything to me but especially when it comes to my children. I probably wouldn’t recommend this complex in all honesty.

This is a well maintained and secured complex in Bakersfield but the best thing about this complex is the onsite Manager, Felicia. She is an incredible representative for this complex, professional in her communication and presentation and represents this management company exceedingly well! She takes great pride in her job and is a warm and welcoming presence for anyone needing questions answered or assistance with anything. She is an asset to this company and this complex and raises the desirability of living there greatly!

I loved my time at Park Sorrento. I went from a one bedroom, to a two bedroom, two a three bedroom. The apartment itself was great. The price was fair. The staff was fantastic and helpful, especially Chassity and Felicia. They always went above and beyond for me, and have massive amounts of patience. Even the maintenance guys were awesome. They work incredibly hard. Don't believe any negative reviews. Those are all from disgruntled people who will never be happy no matter where they go and will always find things to nitpick. Unfortunately I had to move away, but if I could, I would uproot my apartment and bring it with me. I did have a few issues but those were usually with the tenants themselves and nothing to do with the building or management. I think it's one of the better apartment complexes on the east side. I can't speak for anyone else, but I enjoyed my time there. It was good to me and my kids and for that I am eternally grateful. God is good!

DO NOT MOVE HERE!
I would give this place 0 stars if I could.

I’ve been here since 2022, and have lived in both a studio and one bedroom apartment under 2 different property management companies here at Park Sorrento. Don’t take the photos online at face value— if you take a walk around the actual property itself, the place is absolutely covered in dog poop in all areas of the complex. On top of that, they have a very big stray cat problem, and the cat poop is also everywhere. I have made an unbelievable amount of phone calls in hopes that maintenance or the gardeners that come to the complex weekly would clean up my yard since people would constantly take their dogs right outside my apartment and not clean up after them— but to no avail. It just gets left out there to be stepped on, eaten by other dogs, or covered in flies. The cats can be aggressive and are constantly fighting at late hours, and you can hear them from outside since the walls of these buildings are absolutely paper thin. I am disabled and have to live on the ground floor, and the neighbors were far from courteous at both apartments we rented here. I am completely understanding of the fact that some noise is to be expected. However, to have to experience issues with blaring music and parties past 12 AM in the studio, and then move to a one bedroom unit and have to deal with screaming, crying, and stomping from neighbors that is so bad that it actually shakes my apartment be constant— that’s where I draw the line. My partner and I took videos and showed them to management in an effort to show just how bad the issue was, but we were brushed off and nothing was done to address it. We were absolutely miserable. Safety is also a huge issue at this complex. Cops have been called to the property several times in the last few months, and we’ve dealt with mailbox and car break in’s, as well as attempted home break in’s since living here. And more seriously— domestic violence issues and sexual predators roaming around the property. Despite this community being gated, the gates meant to provide a sense of safety stay open for way too long after a car has passed through, leaving a multitude of opportunities for homeless people to get in and out throughout the day and night to dig through trash. I had no idea that homeless people have recently started stealing resident’s laundry from the laundry facilities until I had seen a note on the facility door during a walk around the complex. No email was sent out to address residents directly about this issue, the dog/cat poop, ect. I have however received many emails about community events during the holidays— which are of no use to me and do nothing to address the unending issues here at this apartment complex. If you are looking for a courteous, quiet, and clean community with maintenance and management that actually cares for its residents and their concerns— I HIGHLY suggest looking elsewhere for a place to live. I cannot stress that enough. How Park Sorrento has a high rating is beyond me, but I hope my truly terrible experience can save someone else the frustration and heartache I’ve had to endure while living here.

Update: I have officially moved out and was waiting to receive my security deposit check in the mail before posting this review. Despite keeping the apartment very clean, and getting verbal confirmation from the maintenance staff and an employee from the leasing office that I should have no problem getting most of my deposit back aside from the general and carpet cleaning that is standard with move-out, I have only received $144.61 of the $500 that was paid at move in. BE WARNED: the move in and move out protocol surrounding utilities is incredibly misleading and we were not informed of any of it or the ways it would affect our deposit after move out. I would HIGHLY SUGGEST requesting the full charges ledger before leaving so that you are aware of all the charges. And be sure to ask about how utilities are handled before choosing to live here. SO HAPPY I DON’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE.

Don't let the positive ratings from years ago fool you - this is a terrible place to live at with rude, dishonest, and disingenuous management. There are far too many occurrences to note here, but one major occurrence that stands out is the fact that my partner and I had complained about a tenant that lived above us who would throw parties all night and even threatened our safety at one point. After we had brought this up to the leasing office several times, we were told to move units and had to pay for a more expensive apartment while the other tenant continued to live in their unit for months afterwards. After we changed units, the new upstairs neighbor had a toddler that would scream and pound on the floor all day and break things right outside our door. Our home would rattle from the noise for hours on end to which we recorded videos of and showed to the staff. The management doesn't care about you, your comfort, or especially your safety - they only care about luring desperate, naive people in with the sight of their gates and manicured bushes so that they can continue profiting off lower income people who desire an affordable place to live. We were also in a desperate position and have deeply regretted our mistake of choosing Park Sorrento as our home. Almost every other day cop cars were parked inside of our complex because of homeless, break-ins, DV calls, sexual predators or any other number of issues that seemed commonplace for Park Sorrento. There's a security company that are supposed to patrol the area but they are absolutely useless. My partner, who is disabled and has to be at home by herself most days, had to deal everyday with unbearable noise, rude neighbors, and having to walk through heaps of garbage and dog and cat feces all around the complex. My partner would fear for her own safety as giant dogs would run around without a leash on and children would stare through our windows invading our privacy. Her numerous concerns were received with annoyance and contempt as if she shouldn't even bother the leasing office in the first place. After awhile, our leasing agreement felt like a prison sentence. The units themselves are cheap with outdated appliances and paper thin walls. If I were to go on about the issues we encountered while living here, I would need to write at least 10 more reviews but I don't want to waste my time. We leaped with joy when we were approved for a new apartment and excitedly counted the days for when we were going to move out. We will never step foot at Park Sorrento ever again.

P.S. The apartment complex we live at now (which is fantastic, by the way) told us upon filling out our paperwork that they recently had a large influx of people moving from Park Sorrento. If management is reading this, don't even bother writing any apologies or making a defensive response. Let the facts speak for themselves and let this review be your mantra to do better.

Park sorrento is so beautiful and nice. All the staff in the office are so nice and made my move in smooth. Any questions I had were answered and the maintenance are so quick to fix the little issues I had. I don’t plan on moving anytime soon. The staff makes park sorrento the amazing place it is.

Park Sorrento was a pretty good place to live at. The area is not too bad. For awhile we were having issues with homeless people coming onto the property and going through the trash cans, but once the gate was fixed, issue went away. There were a lot of cats in the area, but overall the place is very clean. No issue with bugs, rodents, or other pests in the apartment due to them spraying. The landscaping team also did a great job keeping the area clean and tidy. And if you needed any maintenance done, they would arrive as quickly as they could to fix the issue. I was only there for 2 years but I did notice that once the management changed, they were much easier to get ahold of than the previous management. The office staff were very helpful with any questions or concerns I had.

Just as I posted my updated review I was driving by yet to see once again, the pool gate opened and people in the pool. Mind you.. this area as you can see is dark there are no lights. The pool is obviously closed!
