Subject: Fraudulent Pricing & Bait-and-Switch Tactics – Complaint Against Napleton River Oaks Hyundai Kia:

I am filing a formal complaint against Napleton River Oaks Hyundai Kia (1985 River Oaks Dr, Calumet City, IL 60409) for engaging in misleading advertising and deceptive business practices.

Incident Details:
On 02/01/2025-02/18/2025, I inquired about a 2014 Toyota Corolla L listed on Carfax.com for $4,500. I contacted the dealership, stated my intent to pay in full with cash, and expected to proceed with the purchase at the advertised price.

However, upon contacting them:

They denied my offer, refusing to sell the vehicle at the advertised price.
Within 24 hours of my inquiry, they raised the price online.
They did not provide a legitimate reason for the price change or their refusal to honor the original listing.
This appears to be a bait-and-switch scheme, where they lure customers in with a low price only to increase it after receiving interest. This practice is deceptive and may violate consumer protection laws.

Alvin Locke was very helpful. He greeted us at the door and made sure I got a good deal that works for my situation. I had an impossible situation but managed to get a deal that was decent. I would say there was some failure in transparency in moments with Alvin in some areas I didn’t favor but he had great patience to answer questions I had. Overall Alvin did not stop to get me the car note I wanted!
