I remember being shocked to hear that the Mall had closed. It was on Google. I wanted to visit the mall for some frivolous reason. And the note said, "the mall is closed." No explanation. No explanation! There didn't seem to be any point in driving there, finding some Worker, and saying why why why? But then, my son and I were driving around looking for a movie theatre, and up pops the Monmouth mall. Even though the mall was closed, many stores were still open. I assume. I am happy to report that we had a wonderful experience watching Snow White at the AMC. I have no information about whether any other stores are open, or not, but I would advise the mall management to get the word out. It looks like they're just doing renovations. But either way, in the name of good public relations and sound business practices, they should inform the market! Yes? Am I wrong?

Update: 3/30 JC Penny is fully demolished. Limited Parking. Boscov's and Macy's still there.
It was just a great mall but to see this era almost ending is pure sadness.

Now that they have been bought up by a developer. A once beautiful place for people to mingle and shop has been torn down to a shell of its former beauty. I've seen the plan's they have for it, and it seems no one is impressed. Just another flop shop in the making. Open concept where no one is protected from the elements... and Apartments for future Karen's to live and complain about everything and everyone.

UPDATE December 2024: Construction going full steam ahead. All of what used to be the inside part of the Mall is shut down and being demolished. Macy's and Boscov's are the only remaining anchor stores and both are essentially freestanding. The AMC theater is still open as are a handful of other outer businesses like Buffalo Wild Wings. Sadly the best ever Christmas Santa is not longer here, he shall be missed! Of note, the Barnes and Noble store has moved to it's new location on the other side of Macy's. It is a beautiful store, worth a look if you like that kind of thing. The Starbucks is still inside.

UPDATE August 2024: New construction is finally moving forward. The old JC Penney and Lord and Taylor buildings are being demolished as I type this. Most of the interior is surprisingly still accessible to the public although almost all interior stores are closed. The food court is completely shut down although Buffalo Wild Wings is still open from the outside. Macy's, Boscov's, Barnes and Noble and the movie theater are still open. Inside Pink and Victoria's Secret are open but that's about it. It is only a matter of time that Boscov's will be off from the interior once they start demo on that area. For now it's still a decent place for an inside walk if you don't mind it being a bit creepy!

UPDATE March 2024: The phases of construction have begun on what will eventually be the new Monmouth Square. Expect changes throughout the coming months. At least part of the old mall will remain open. Not sure how good it will still be for walking once the main demolition starts. I will try to update.

As a shopping mall this is more accurately 2 stars, perhaps even 1. It is a shadow of it's former self. However it does have at least one redeeming value, it is a great place to walk indoors! I ho there occasionally when the weather is bad. There are usually a handful of others doing the same thing, power walking for exercise. So if walking is your movement of choice don't use weather as an excuse to skip a day. Just come here! One note, major renovations are due to start in the Spring of 2024. That may affect the areas you can walk.

The mall has a lot of good stores and a great atmosphere, but it's disappointing that they are in the process of demolishing a section of it. As a result, several stores have already closed their doors, and the food court is no longer operational. Despite this, there are still a few shops open for business, offering a range of products and services to customers. It's a mixed experience, as the ongoing construction affects the overall vibe of the mall.

Destruction construction. WHEW! Some stores are open but you have to drive around the grounds to get to them.

Great play place for children, movies, food court, the best stores where you can actually try clothes on before you buy & great intimate restaurants as well around the mall. Love Monmouth Mall. Too bad it’s being torn down.
