This is a well kept smaller park which we walked to as our destination from McDonalds in town/probably 2 miles all together. We were able to sit under a clean shelter area and visit for a bit. This park has a clubhouse type building with scheduled activities. Some years ago I took a cooking class there. I have also attended a graduation party there ~ so you can reserve the building for a fee. There is also an outdoor pool which is no longer open due to lack of participation - which is sad, all the effort and $ to put it in and not enough people using it. All in all a very nice park.

Cardio Kickboxing class is awesome!!! Great trainer- tough class but definitely worth it. Down 1/2 " off my chest, 1/2" off my waist, and 1 1/2" of each arm and not even done with my first session!! I'll take that all day long!!

Nice place to go for a walk when it's quiet there. Park has gone downhill for years though. Pool closed years ago and the tennis courts and the skate park for the kids is also closed. It does have a small playground for younger kids. Has several baseball diamonds and soccer fields. Also has disc golf.

They will automatically use discrimination on children for something coaches should approach immediately if something happens at a practice or game. They make it seem like they take everything serious when in fact they do not. Much better options elsewhere!

My son is playing in the u-8 Marengo Park District Soccer League this fall season 2022 and I am of course really hopeful yet cautiously optimistic that this can be a new found source of passion and fulfillment for him on his individual life's journey. I am very impressed with the knowledge, experience, passion and dedication that his new coach clearly has for coaching young children and especially for the love of the game just from observing a few practices so far. I hope that my son will be as blessed with as much talent and ignited with enough determination to take advantage of all the positive ways that if both talent and tenacity are truly present... competitive team sports like soccer can be life altering. First game this Saturday.... I am excited for him. And he is excited to play even more so because he knows how much I love playing soccer. He's got a great coach who definitely has a lot of experience and knowledge of the game. He gives them well structured tasks and drills that are direct as well as purposeful and age appropriate for their desired skill level. so happy to have him luck out with a volunteer park District Soccer coach who knows what he is doing and doesn't treat them like little babys or talk to them like they can't handle a little discipline. I am glad my son is going to get his first taste of competitive athletic pressure. It's exactly what he needs right now. And if Soccer does turn out to be the right fit for him...the discipline nd desire that is necessary to be a great player is exactly what will be the necessary component in all areas of his development and creating a great sense of selfesteem, healthy living habits and strong bonds in happy relationships. Some of the best life lessons and priceless experiences are learned during these fundamental years, on and off the field, winning and losing, work hard, gaining confidence, achieving results and experiencing true victories. Glory is attainable for anyone who is willing to work their butt off but not without heart. By the time you got Heart... you have become the kind of person that is a force to be reckoned with. Someone very special. In a Perfect world there would be no human beings whatsoever. Perfection

Love working out here. Great the ripped exercise mats were replaced but the new ones offer no cushion whatsoever. I hope they are place holders only.

Just a great example of why Marengo fails at managing their money. Their pool has been shut down for two years, they are ripping out the only playground equipment there (ya, it was falling apart), but they are not replacing it. They have only added adult workout equipment (stuff to do bodyweight exercises on). So you have a big grassy area with some adult workout equipment and some pavilions. They can't afford to replace the kids equipment (ya know, most of the reason you go to a park) and they can't afford to operate the mediocre pool that is already built and rotting away.

All the meanwhile, they annex property down 23 to hopefully build a useless ramp for 90, which will be the same distance as the hampshire ramp, which will generate no revenue business since they refuse to help out the park district. Add on that, the city won't even allow bigger businesses like CVS or Walgreens in town, because they want to keep small businesses afloat.

Again, the park district is a great example of Marengo failing their residents. It's incredibly lack luster.
