Horrific property management (not by the staff- by Kaplan). Nothing gets fixed properly because it’s “not in the budget.” Had a cabinet fall off the actual wall onto us, we frequently get sewer back ups and currently have water coming through my front door, my bathroom, and inside my bath tub. I was about to bathe my infant in that tub. I have a sliding door that hasn’t worked in two years and they refuse to fix it. It got stuck and I couldn’t get back into my apartment after taking the trash out and my 3 month old was inside.

Yet every single year without fail the rent goes up. This year our yearly “amenity fee” also went up.

Valentina from the Colony Oaks North Brunswick leasing office is the nastiest, most condescending woman I have ever met. She has 0 customer service skills and has been extremely rude on multiple occasions. She needs to go immediately and is driving so many people away from this property.

Maintenance however is wonderful. David and Henry are the hardest working people I have ever met and make the complex bearable to live in.

I’ve lived at Camelot in Carteret for less then a year now and have to say it’s been great coming from the city didn’t think I would adjust but I was wrong it was a lot easier then I thought. Was in my last place for 12 years so wasn’t familiar what to expect with everything from finding a place, moving, figuring out transportation, parking etc. the office was very helpful with what I was looking for and made getting the right place easy, the maintenance staff has been nothing but amazing and professional, the move was the biggest pain. Transportation is right on the corner I have parking (Which anyone from the city would appreciate) there’s a gym, they handle my packages, and it’s clean. Last the people that live here are great everyone is friendly would definitely recommend

These people are the greediest POS's I have ever lived under. every single year they raise rents the maximum they are legally allowed saying property tax increases.

the property tax has raised 0.5% in the last six years and these greedy landlords raise it 3.7% EVERY SINGLE YEAR (legal max in north brunswick)

Their Colony Oaks Aprtments are absolutely the WORST place to live. My husband and I are breaking our lease as soon as we find another more suitable place to live. I could literally go on for hours about how terrible this community is but I’ll condense it for you. When we moved in the apartment was a complete mess. They never cleaned it and refused to when we moved in. My dog was literally eating things off the floor and the place smelled terrible. We recently had maintenance workers in our apartment as part of a mandated electrical panel update and they left our place a COMPLETE MESS. I’m talking drywall and paint all over the floor, wiring left around, trash left outside our apartment door, AND DOG POOP was stepped in and tracked around my entire apartment. They went through our stuff as items were left in places we don’t ever keep them and knocked over. I even found a used glove under my sink in the bathroom. They were changing the electrical panel and had absolutely no need to be anywhere else in the apartment. We contacted the leasing office and they said it’s work done by a 3rd party company and we found out they were left unattended in our apartment during the work. I’m terrified personal information was stolen. Also when bringing up my concerns about the mess the answer I got was “These are construction men and we can’t expect them to be as careful as women.” They were completely unhelpful and no one from corporate will call me back about these concerns. Don’t live here if you value keeping your personal information safe and your home cleanly.

Kaplan properties has been great to live in. They are a great management team and I completely disagree with all the negative reviews on here. I have lived at 3 of theirs properties over a 7 year span. They have always been attentive and professional when handling any of my needs. The staff and maintenance at all 3 sites were great. I’ve also visited their highland park office. If quality and peace of mind is what you seek look no further.
