A must visit when in Tuscumbia area. Beautiful grounds and nice historic home. Don’t miss the play The Miracle Worker each Friday and Saturday evenings June-mid July. The play is so well done and the local talent is awesome! Helen Keller was an amazing lady and it’s nice seeing her home, learning more of her history.

Beautiful historic house of Helen Keller's Birthplace and family home. Furnishings are about 85% original.

Reservations are not required, but will need about an hour to hear the guided tour and walk the 10 acres to see and read everything. Be sure to walk around to rear of house where the annual reenactment is held. A replica of the house and well where Helen Keller learned how to say water.

The tour guides are very knowledgeable, and photos are permissible.

Ivy Green is a wonderful historic site. Great personal tour of the home is provided by the knowledgeable tour guides in about a 15 minute informative presentation. You can then tour the remaining 10 acres on your own. Allow about 1 hour plus for the visit. The amazing part is the outdoor 2 hour amphitheater play on site ‘The Miracle Worker’! Outstanding cast and unbelievable performance. The play is presented only during certain days so check the calendar.
