We found Kari by reviewing realtor profiles and she sounded like a good fit for what we were looking for and her knowledge of the Truckee and north Lake Tahoe area. It turned out that she was a perfect fit for us! She asked all the right questions, answered all our questions honestly, and showed us numerous houses around the north Lake Tahoe and Truckee area so we could narrow down which neighborhood and house we wanted. She accommodated our schedules as we were only in the area a limited number of days. After we found the perfect house, Kari was super helpful in the paperwork and purchase process and has had many contacts for us as we get acquainted with the area. My wife and I started looking at homes in Truckee early Fall 2022. Kari did an amazing job lining up homes that fit our budget/requirements and included some that we had not considered. Her knowledge of the area, the types of construction, materials, allowed us to make informed assessments. She even discussed roof types, where snow would shed, accumulate, and thaw/flow in spring. Something I am so grateful for in this record snowfall of 2023. She was patient as I wanted to go into crawl spaces and attics. She also made sure we had the most up to date inspection reports when available.
When we made the first offer, Kari guided us through the process. She kept us informed as we waited for counters. She described the impact of another buyer and how to make offers in this situation. She worked with us on bids for three homes which we did not get. During this time, she kept refining our search criteria. In the end, we toured a home that did not show well in photographs. We were amazed by how much we loved it and had not even considered it (both due to price and photos). We made an offer that we thought was fair. After minimal negotiations with Kari's guidance, we got the house!
Kari also put me in contact with a local insurance company to handle the fire insurance too!
Even after we got the keys and closed the sale Kari was providing help.
At the first snowfall:
She checked in to see if I had put up the polycarbonate window protectors.
Knowing that my family loves to Snowboard and wanted to take up nordic skiing, she checked in and showed us the different skis and where to go.
When the snow on my roof got very high, she recommended three companies that can correct this. I called one of them and they were there a day later.
Now, whenever we want to see "what to do in Truckee?", we look at Kari's Strava feed.
