Unfair and inhumane.
I'm not even sure where to start... First they raised my rent after a year. The letter said it was to "bring my unit more in line with the other units." I'm aware that my neighbors had new floors and mine were original (1950s). No work was ever done, imagine that.
Then the washer destroyed several hundred dollars worth of bedding/clothing (rips, holes) so I had to stop using the onsite facilities altogether. No compensation or acknowledgement of this.
Worst of all, the heat stopped working last May when it was below freezing at night for a couple weeks. They took 3 days to bring a space heater. Then told me it would be another week until the maintenance person could come perform the simple filter change on the heater which was all that needed to be done. The maintenance person NEVER SHOWED UP.
At this point I obviously decided I wasn't renewing the lease and moved in with my partner even though I had 8 more months on the lease.
I tried again in October to tell them the heat hadn't been working since early May and got no response.
I finally spoke with Mary a couple weeks later, and she basically blamed me for the situation, apparently I should have stayed in a cold unit and chased them down to get basic needs met.
My final interactions with her regarding my lease conclusion were so needlessly rude and condescending I am honestly in disbelief.
Unsurprisingly, they kept most of my deposit. The unit is around 70 years old and they attributed ridiculous things to my >2 years in the unit: peeling shelf liner older than me, water damage on the original floors that I didn't live on long enough to have caused, a nonfunctional stove vent that probably hasn't worked in decades which was blamed on "smoking" (I don't smoke!) They even charged me for a smoke detector battery and blinds which were in such condition on my move in, as the property is old and in disrepair.
The cherry on top? The property was bought by CMU and is being demolished.
I'll never give an old property a chance again if I'm just going to be blamed for the condition as retaliation for not being happy about being left in the cold with destroyed clothing.
I've never been treated like this by any landlord I've ever had and didn't deserve it. I don't know how these slumlords sleep at night.
I can't wait to see what kind of passive aggressive and condescending response they write to this. Y'all left me without heat and treated me like garbage, I will tell everyone I know!

Toni is one of the rudest realtors I’ve ever encountered, we needed to reschedule a showing and she had the unprofessional audacity to call me names over the phone. She was on speaker and my husband heard everything she said and was shocked. I do not recommend her. Also my first review on her fb page was removed instead of trying to make the situation right.
