This review is for Museum Tower Apartments in Bunker Hill, DTLA. While the building itself is decently maintained and is in a convenient location, the leasing staff at the property needs a serious change in attitude. After calling and emailing the leasing office multiple times over the last few weeks simply requesting to speak to the property manager, each time I was told that the property manager was busy and that I would get a call back. I have NEVER received a call back. Today, I walked into the leasing office and was told off by Yadira Gomez, rather arrogantly, and with no regard whatsoever about the number of times I have tried to get in touch, saying that the property manager, Kelli Stanton, was in a 30 minute call and would call me back. Did I get a call back? Of course not. At this point, I am not surprised. The leasing staff clearly does not seem to treat all residents equally, despite expressing my desire to be a long term tenant at MT. While I was once a happy resident at MT, I am no longer sure if I want to renew my lease at Museum Tower or any other GK Property anymore, given the way some of these "entitled" leasing staff members treat their residents. Plenty of DTLA apartments with better amenities and a better bang for your buck. Do yourself a huge favor if you are a quiet resident paying your rent on time with genuine problems that you want to sort with management amicably, please don't waste your time at this property. You will truly end up feeling as if you are constantly looked down upon by the leasing staff at GK.

TLDR: Good maintenance, clean property, unapproachable and passively aggressive client facing staff. GK needs a serious upgrade in their leasing personnel to continue attracting long term quality residents who are only looking for a quiet place to call home.

This is the roadway around Dolphin Marina Apartments, where Goldrich & Kest are remediating apartments. Within 10 minutes I found 3 drywall screws and 1 metal fragment that hadn't yet found their way into someone's tire. There are potholes due to all the heavy construction equipment going back and forth. All the tenant parking is taken up by construction worker personal vehicles. The sound of jackhammers, metal saws, and nail guns continue from 730 am to 5 pm, Monday to Saturday, holidays included. Even if you do find a parking spot nearby, your car will be covered with grime within hours. The boats parked in the marina have to double up washdowns in order to keep the dust out of intakes and off surfaces. Isn't the draw of living near a marina the view of all the pretty white boats?
The boater bathrooms and laundry facilities are often in disrepair, the plumbing is so old there is no hot water and unreliable water pressure, and the asbestos remediation paint is chipping off the walls, exposing the asbestos beneath.
I know all this review will get is a canned response from corporate, but I wanted to let those who are thinking of renting at Dolphin Marina Apartments or slips know what they are in for.
Note that I have no enmity for those employees struggling to deal with these issues that G&K corporate is so willingly ignoring.

A MAN IS FOLLOWING ME AND GK REFUSES TO GIVE ME A NEW PARKING SPACE

This management is terrible. They would rather spend money on landscaping, painting, and windows while police activity occurs and major security breaches are in the building. The keypad in my building doesn't function, and the doors don't close properly for years now. Yet, they force contractors in your private units and make you move you car when they tell you. I just want a new parking space because the space i have is far, and there is a man following me and asking me to get in his vehicle. GK management is aware, and yet they are giving me the red tape about how they "can't change the lease." They say they care about safety, but their actions are different. They "appreciate your feedback" and will leave you out to get fend for yourself when you directly express that you feel unsafe.

They also lie. They said in an email that safety of residents is their priority, but the lease language literally states safety and security is on the residents. It also states they reserve the right to move people's parking spots. So, they COULD help me if they actually wanted to.

This may be a good temporary place for newer residents. But for people like us who have lived here for decades it is a dump. My apartment hasn't been painted in over 25 years. The carpet hasn't been replaced in over 25 years, even though it has huge holes. My bottom floor apartment has been flooded numerous times from above, so the carpet has been wet numerous times, which means it's probably moldy underneath. It's very upsetting when other units have been totally refurbished with "wood" flooring and have beautiful kitchens with dishwashers (something I've never had). My stove is warped on the front from heat. My cheap vinyl kitchen counters have hundreds of chips and stains. My kitchen cabinets have peeling wood veneers that gives slivers. My vinyl flooring has stains and holes. This is a 3-story building with no elevator, yet advertises as being accessible to the handicapped. There is a shallow kiddie pool and no jacuzzi. My son's car had the window smashed in our parking lot that supposedly had a security guard. And my car had the turn signal lights smashed twice under view of security cameras. The only good thing I can say is my 2-bedroom unit is fairly large (although it only has one bathroom). The other plusses are that it's a small building and it's generally quiet (other than very noisy upstairs neighbors). Getting help from the management or representatives at the corporate office is almost impossible. They just don't respond.
Although G&K responded to my review saying they have responded to my concerns about issues at Independence Park Apartments this is not true. The manager almost never responds. And my last two emails to the corporate office have never gotten a response. I wrote two emails to G&K in the past year, so it's not like I'm constantly complaining to the corporate office. As for the manager of this complex, she hasn't responded to urgent questions such as was anyone seen damaging our cars, or when will the rent payment portal be updated, so I can pay the correct rent amount. Nobody calls or emails in response to these or other inquiries. As for the suggestion that I contact the manager about updates to my unit, that's almost laughable. I've been making requests at least once a year for over ten years. The holes in the carpet are over 10 years old. Another longtime resident called these "slumlord" conditions. If I could move I would.

personnel advice.. do not rent from this management..

worst management ever... been live in walnut ridge apartment for 4 years. exceptionally Rubia, the rudest manager in walnut ridge. overpriced to rent. and charges on parking. pools and gym always on maintenance. didn't get to use for at least few month in the middle of the pandemic . we pay rent for all the Amenities. also two parking space was force to left with one. and add $5 per month for one parking. extra parking need to pay $60 a month. is another way to bypass to increase rent.
take you money somewhere else. with this company's poor management. they don't deserve to have any tenants.

This company is a joke. I’m rent a 3 bedroom in las Palmas Apartments. I been living in the same apartment for 4 years. My stove has been horrible and my AC doesn’t work. Veronica decided to send me the Regional Manager to approve a new stove and AC guess what not approved. He said it’s fixed. This horrible when l pay a lot of money for this apartment that is not worth what they charge. This building is falling apart noting works. They claimed high end apartments!🤣 This will be my last year with them so done. The city of Covina should come and check this place out. It’s not healthy on how the manager allows people to live in certain conditions with mold.

Terrible management that dont address concerns.
They response with “sorry to hear about this” but do NOTHING. Do not follow legal procedures but claim to do so. Dont even look at complain files but claim they do.
Horrible residents are put in, so there is constant moving in and out, the good tenants that can afford, leave.
broken dryers and washers, with horrible dark water smells. Elevators are out of order constantly. the hallways smell bad, and have animal waste and roaches. The building is infested with roaches, the pool area has been out of service for over a year but still charge for it. Packages are constantly stolen and no response. the management does not comply to legal or written regulations. Increase of rent far more than legal amount. no notices to any changes or information regarding legal language. Honestly, horrible.
