I’ve only been a tenant through them for 6 mo so far, but have had an overall good experience so far! Phyllis, one of their leasing agents, was extremely helpful and kind when we were deciding where to live, and was one of the reasons we chose to go with one of first western properties apartments. Maintenance requests were completed quickly within the same day or the day after. They redid many things external to the apartments, including the floor inside the stairwell, installed keypad locks on all the outside doors, repainted the fences and other things, and recemeneted the walkway. The neighbors and community were pleasant, and when subleasing my apartment due to personal reasons, they were easy to work with.

This company is spreading lies about owning certain businesses and trying to make a public square a private one. They are actively seeking to force local tamaleros away from their building, although the business they are conducting is not on the property managements lot but actually a PUBLIC area. Disgraceful. If you’re gonna try to inject into local communities, respect them. Don’t try to change what many love just for your property value bc at the end of the day the people you are hurting are the ones renting from you. Shameful tactics. No wonder there are so many bad reviews of your business.

Best part of the company would be the leasing agent Phyllis. She made sure my roommate and i got all of our MANY questions answered before we even moved in. She was a great help through the whole process and even after showing us the house and us agreeing to renting, she made sure we understood the lease, the online portal, the door codes, and literally anything we needed. 10/10 love Phyllis!

Leasing company is lazy and unresponsive!!! The number they provided is completely useless since nobody answers, and the place has been deteriorating since we moved in. Some maintenance requests and noise complaints have been completely ignored or not done correctly. Not a good look for a place that’s $2,000 a month. I’ve been here for 4 months and can honestly say this is the worst leasing agency. Need to do better in the better.

We moved in 8 months ago, about 1 week in we noticed that there were multiple leaks in our ceilings and skylight, causing mold to form. We reported it immediately, and have been submitting reports monthly since June. We are now two days from February.

The mold has continued to grow, and still no one answers our maintenance requests. First Western Properties (FWP) claims they sent someone out to fix the roof, but we never saw any repairs, and the leaks continued with no interruption. Winter came, and our gas bill has literally more than tripled. We went from $56/mo to $178/month due to the heat escaping through the broken panes in the skylight. The mold is now actively spreading to other rooms. I wake up 2-3 times per night having asthma attacks due to the mold exposure.

FWP has been informed of all of this, but does not care at all. The manager Maya refuses to speak to me on the phone, so I had to pay for an Uber to the office to get a response from her face to face. Even then, FWP would not guarantee the mold would ever be fixed. When I offered to show the president Paul Tsikaris pictures of the mold, he snatched my phone from my hand and began scrolling through all of the other photos on my camera roll, in violation of my privacy.

The Metropolitan Tenants Rights hotline has advised us to withhold rent until the mold is addressed and fully remedied. They specifically noted that a lawsuit was filed against FWP in May of 2024 for these exact same practices, as well as retaliation. I encourage all prospective residents to search “First Western Properties Tenants Union” to learn more about the legal case. I will personally be contacting the legal office presiding over the case to inquire about next steps.
