PART ONE OF THREE

What could be a really nice ā€œfixed-incomeā€ apartment complex in a thriving township has devolved into a cliche of ā€œlow income, project style livingā€.

There are squatters (homeless folks) that stay here in an almost permanent basis. I can name four off-hand as fact.

Laundry room is filled with ā€œfor payā€ machines (not exorbitant) pricing, however The machines are not well maintained, sometimes they don’t work at all, but you can’t get your money back,, and often times you will find small holes in your clothing from the dryer that are very old. There seems to be no remedy for this to get fixed as I have tried on three separate occasions
————
They have been trying to get my heat right for the last three years.
I mean, I like the cold however when it gets 25° outside than my apartment becomes frigid and there were three separate occasions where I woke up actually shivering from the cold.

There is mold, mold, mold all throughout the kitchen and in the kitchen cabinets and it just doesn’t go away and that is pretty scary because that can lead to a lot of illnesses

There doesn’t seem to be a working vehicle to get things done.

By that I mean, you can state the issues. Write them down email them, but the corrective measures do not happen.

There was one entire season where there was no landscape maintenance, and by that I mean, just mowing the lawn .
I’m not even sure how something like that can happen.

It’s a shame because it’s located on a beautiful property backed up to Lake HAZEL, and a lot of Woodland areas that are scenic, clean, and just a great way to unplug and relax

There are signs posted throughout the scenic areas that lie directly behind the complex that strictly state do not feed the birds and it sites a local town ordinance. This ordinance is completely ignored, and I never see any penalties for people violating it and as a result, you got a huge population of Canadian geese, whose nickname might as well be poop machines because the sidewalks get covered with their feces to the point where you cannot walk on them without stepping in it.
When I first moved here, I had items coming to help furnish my apartment and they were all stolen immediately out of the mail room.
When I brought this to management attention, the response was ā€œ We don’t have cameras in the mail room so we don’t know who’s doing itā€. I think another way to say that is we have our head in the sand so far buried we can’t see or hear anything…… I’m not sure but it sounds like a similar refrain.

There are two vending machines in the building that work when they want to sometimes they just take your money and don’t dispense anything.
They have phone numbers listed on them for help and I have called all of them and every single conversation was pushed back on me and I was never refunded any money.
That’s a small issue, but it’s annoying

The trash… While there’s a whole series that’s been documented about the trash compliments of channel 10 news in New Jersey Department of health

OK, so this may sound like first world problems but there’s more…… I’ve seen maintenance crew come and go and I gotta tell you I don’t know what school these guys went to, but they can talk really well but nothing gets fixed

There is so much potential at this complex and it’s just terrible to see how under managed and under utilized it truly is.

I get mice in my apartment from time to time, but I don’t mind because to me my suggest scared little rodents who don’t even know how he got in here in the first place, so I catch them and release the harmless little guys.

I love America and I’m proud of our country but sometimes I think I’m in another country when I walk out into the back patio.
Perfectly OK, however, it may be customary for foreigners to throw food out their window for the animals and this happens all too frequently I’ve seen chickens with bones fish with bones all kinds of food slop that gets thrown out of windows and right onto the patio and the big issue. Is that dogs of course want to eat it and some of the stuff could kill them especially the bones this has been going on for the last three years.

Right out their window!!
It’s ā€œthe Great Food Tossā€ that happens almost every day.

Echelon Towers has huge upside potential. I think that capital expenditures for a 1980 built building are avoided at all costs by the ownership where the bottom line is ā€œprofits and returns to shareholders by any means availableā€ Hence things aren’t fixed until they are absolutely required under penalty of law.

I’m not sure if the ownership is privately held or A publicly traded company, but that information Can be easily obtained.

My point being no one wants to sink Money into a property whose value on the market may be way reduced because of the age of the building. And that’s too bad for the tenants if that is what’s happening.

On the other hand, however, this building is heavily funded by the federal government to support the low income apartment segment as required by every township in every state.

So if there are subsidies for the rent, subsidies for the heating, and I’m sure other subsidies that I don’t know about, where is all this money going because it’s certainly not being used to support a robust maintenance program.

If I could give it zero stars, I would
My mom is been living there for 5 yrs and every time something brakes I have to deal with a rude woman who works in the office, she’s always on the phone, it’s very hard to understand her accent, she never knows anything, and I even had to tell the manager (Denise) how rude she was but she’s still there so I guess there’s no other choice but deal with her
Now it’s 2025. The front door has no lock so anybody can get inside. They’ve been stealing my momā€˜s packages that they leave inside the mail room. The secretary doesn’t do anything. She gets mad when somebody complains, is getting out of hand. Is such a nice area, but the building is a mess, the management has to step up and do something

Absolutely horrific. Building has no hot water all the time, electrical sockets that shock, drug dealers, elderly people getting attacked in the building, hand rails broken with screws sticking out, packages stolen in mail room. I think it's time to contact licensing and inspection and some other agencies.

I think the community room needs to be opened again seem like everything is locked we use to be able to throw parties and lil get togethers I think as long as the community room is cleaned and everyone has mask then it should be ok and all floors should be Exterminated for everything we never had mice in this building my 10 years of being in building.
