First and foremost, East Orange Municipal Court operates within the constraints of a working-class town. This isn’t some billion-dollar industry with endless resources—it’s a local court handling an overwhelming number of cases every day. East Orange is a busy, highly populated area, and that naturally puts a strain on its resources, including the court system and law enforcement.

I see a lot of negative reviews, and honestly, people need to step back and look at the bigger picture. The staff here—judges, clerks, officers—are working under pressure, dealing with high volumes of cases while keeping everything moving as best they can. They don’t control the funding, the technology, or the number of people coming through those doors every day. They’re just doing their jobs, and in my experience, they’re doing it well.

I recently had a case here—I’m not going into details—but I had a Zoom hearing, and I have to say, the judge running the session was sharp, professional, and on top of everything. I didn’t get some great outcome, no dismissal, nothing like that, but I still walked away respecting how the court operates. I’ve been to other municipal courts in different parts of New Jersey, and let me tell you, East Orange is not the worst by any stretch. In fact, compared to some places, it’s run more smoothly than people give it credit for.

Yeah, it can be tough to get paperwork sometimes, and yeah, calling the office might take a few tries, but that’s the reality of municipal courts in general. These places aren’t running on the latest and greatest software, and the people working there aren’t in charge of fixing that. They work with what they’ve got, and they keep things moving.

A lot of folks want to complain, but let’s be real—if you don’t want to deal with court, don’t put yourself in a position where you have to. And if you do have to, at least appreciate that East Orange Municipal Court gives you the option of handling things on Zoom instead of dragging yourself down there in person like in some other towns.

At the end of the day, this court is getting a bad rap when really, they deserve more credit. The people working there aren’t out to make your life harder—they’re doing their jobs, just like everyone else. So shoutout to the team at East Orange Municipal Court. Keep doing what you do, and don’t let the negativity bring you down. Some of us out here see and appreciate the work you put in.

They are rude and obnoxious
Have no phone etiquette

You have to call 100 times before some one picks up

But want to send you a millions of mails
When you call to address the mails
They pick up and hang up and pick up and hang up
Literally had to call here 100 times before someone answers

THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE!!!!! I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT MY PARKET TICKET NUMBER SO I CAN PAY MY PARKING TICKET AND THEY DO A TERRIBLE JOB ANSWERING THE PHONE!!!! THESE PEOPLE NEED TO BE FIRED!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely terrible. They do not answer phones at all and it’s clear that they ignore phone calls. In addition to this, they do not send communication or documentation in the mail despite promising to do so. Not sure this is a real place at this point.
