Was such an amazing place and so beautiful, the cabins are so well taken care of and so homie, the beds are so comfortable. The scenery was amazing and the river right behind me was so nice. Michael and Libni were so hospitable, you couldn't ask for more amazing hosts! I definitely will be returning as often as I can!!

Would highly recommend! This was a family camp trip. As a group we had 3 cabins. There was a playground for kids. They were also play in the water behind the cabin. Dog friendly and parking for boats. Cabins had everything we needed. Owners were very kind.

My wife and I have been traveling across the state of Colorado for 10 years. In that time, we have stayed at everything from five-star accommodations to KOA campgrounds. We tend to choose smaller hotel chains, bed and breakfasts and cabin-style motels to help support local businesses. We first stayed with CCA 8 years ago and we were looking forward to returning for a two night stay.

In many occasions our check-ins have occurred when proprietors/staff are away or on breaks. Our experience in these cases has always been that the staff leaves paperwork for our stay at the front desk to self check-in. This practice became more common through the COVID pandemic and contactless service and has remained fairly common since.

Upon our arrival, my wife went into the front office and there was no one at the desk. She smelled food and heard plates and did not want to inconvenience anyone if they were in the middle of dinner. The check in paperwork was laid out on the front counter immediately inside the door of the office, facing the customer's side of the counter as soon as you walk in. She saw it, signed the pet policy, the only page requiring a signature, and left it on the front desk. Everything seemed normal to us based on our previous experience with other establishments.

We then went to our room, offloaded our car and waited about 30 minutes while the rain passed. Once the skies cleared up, we took our dog for a 20 minute walk around the property before it started raining again.

We were back in our room for a few minutes before there was an aggressive and very loud knock at the door. These are not large rooms and I'm sure the person knocking knows that. There was no need to knock so loudly. We opened the door to a bearded man with a black cowboy hat who looked pretty annoyed and did not introduce himself and instead simply asked "why did you take my paperwork? You need to check in" brusquely. My wife and I were taken aback and apologized, explaining we thought we were all set since the paperwork was left for us and we signed the pet disclosure. He was already turning to walk away and was short again and said "no you need to come to the front office".

My wife and I are both life-long customer service professionals. In that moment, I knew we would be cancelling our reservation immediately. I did not feel welcomed as a guest, nor did I feel respected with this interaction. I let my wife know we'd be leaving and headed to the front office with the check in information in hand. When I stepped into the office, there was no apology for the previous interaction. The man simply stated that he wanted me to complete the check-in and I said I just wanted to leave.

There was no effort to inquire about the nature of my cancellation or any attempt to remedy any concerns. I was instead advised of the cancellation fee, to which I agreed. I paid the cancellation, and was sent off with a snarky "safe travels". My wife and I recognize the hard work that goes into hospitality jobs. We also recognize the importance of sharing feedback with the owners of these establishments, as it helps to better their services and improve the experiences of guests. We are far more likely to commend staff and their services when everything goes well and hardly ever have negative feedback, unless we have had a shockingly bad experience like this one.

Frankly, the situation could have been handled a million different ways, but just a little courtesy or a more professional/cheerful/welcoming tone would have probably changed the nature of the whole interaction. Instead my whole outlook was soured and I did not look forward to interacting with this man again, ever. I came to Grand Lake to vacation but after that interaction the only thing I wanted was to get back on the road and leave.

Please contact us via email if you would like further information about our very short 1 hour stay.

Perfect place to get away, enjoy the views, and relax! My family and I were able to have fun in the snow and enjoy all the winter activities available around us. The property managers are extremely helpful and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Will most definitely come back in the summer time - beautiful scenery!

Cricket & Seth are fabulous hosts! The cabins are sparkling clean, comfortable and the kitchens are VERY well equipped! The location was perfect for Rocky Mountain National Park as well Cricket gave us the best restaurant suggestions in Grand Lake. We really wish we could have stayed here longer than 2 nights. It was truly the cleanest and best equipped place we stayed on our 8 day adventure! We arrived pretty late due to some road closures on the way, but Seth still came up to greet us and make sure we were set with everything. Bathroom is on the smaller side in the lodge rooms but we were gone on adventures and were just thrilled that the bathroom was so clean and plenty of towels and toiletries and plenty of hot water for 5 so not a big deal to us.

Shot the most amazing wedding here as a photographer last week. They rented out the whole grounds and put a tent in the middle. Gave all their closest people a cabin. Coolest way to do a wedding in my opinion.

Beautiful grounds on the headwaters of the colorado river!!

My friend and I stayed at CCA for two nights, last week. It was not nearly enough time! When we arrived, Seth checked us in and gave us the rundown of the property, bears, the lake, etc. He said that we could text at any time if we needed anything. We took him up on that offer, and at 9pm asked if he could light our fireplace. He wasted no time in coming over and getting our fire going. He also offered to set up a fire for us at the lake, but we ended up not having enough time to take advantage of that, though it sounded like a wonderful idea! ||||We stayed in the Shadow Mountain room, in the bunkhouse. We had two bedrooms, which was nice. The kitchen had every amenity we could want - including coffee, filters, and powered cream, which is important! The bathroom had enough soap and shampoo for a large family to use for a week. I was impressed with all of the supplies in the bathroom. Each room in the cabin had it's own temperature control and box fan, which came in handy. ||||The walk to the river is very easy - you just go in between some of the cabins and you're at the river. The walk to the lake is a little more involved; it's pretty overgrown but easy to find the path. I had no issues getting to the lake. Both the lake and river were gorgeous and so peaceful. ||||The cabin was a very easy drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. You literally turn right out of the parking lot, drive a few miles, and you're at the park. The town of Grand Lake is even closer. We had no issues finding our way around town. Everything is pretty small and easy to understand. ||||Everyone that we encountered at CCA was so nice. It felt like visiting friends. They made us feel very welcome. The cabin was perfect, inside the walls were all wood, so it really felt like you were in a real cabin, even though we were in the bunkhouse. ||||Overall, I highly recommend Colorado Cabin Adventures, and the west side of the park. It was perfect, quiet, and peaceful - just what we needed!

Our family loves this place. We get the same cabin every year. The cabin is small but comfortable and suits us perfectly. The establishment is under new management but seems to be still really good. Unfortunately due to the dry conditions there is a fire ban this year. Not having a camp fire is not ideal but we have found other ways to occupy our nights. The fishing is generally really good in the river but this year the water level is really low. I have had to venture out but have found some new spots and caught some quality fish. The scenery and weather is top notch. Can't wait for next year!
