I had a 1 bedroom at Central Ave Lofts and believe it or not it was one of the best apartments I've had. I stayed there 1.5 years. I had to leave 6 months after renewing my lease (due to a family issue) and the management was understanding and worked with me to find a new tenant. I miss my apartment there, though.

The pros are obviously the high ceilings and massive windows that let in lots of natural light, very modern appliances (especially the HVAC system that cools or heats the apartment in 15 minutes and was not expensive), keyless entry that works via cellphone or passcode, and a very friendly and responsive management team. The other things I really liked were the super easy commute to the city via the light rail (directly across the street), walking distance to downtown Newark via several safe routes through the campuses, and walking distance to the Cathedral Basilica and Branch Brook Park (enjoyed running there).

The con is that you are in the heart of Newark, which can be a bit spicey. However, if you are like me, and you like Newark, that's actually part of the allure.

LOVE this space! COMMUTER’S HAVEN!!!
Literally everything is brand new (no exaggeration), the spaces were designed with intention and care. Water pressure and temp. Is great.

Walls are thick so they do a good job blocking some outside noise. All the neighbors I’ve met so far are friendly.

Only thing I’d say is common areas (gym, conference room) seemed like an afterthought. Little barren, but it does the job. Excited to see more done with shared spaces!
2 weeks in and loving every minute of it.
