My mother has just moved in and it’s been such a quick and graceful process. Laurie has been amazing. She has been so helpful with my Mom and made sure she was put in an apartment she felt comfortable in. She’s even helped my locate furniture for her new place. I’ve never worked with a property manager so kind and down to earth. She seems to really care about the residents that live there. My has not had a place to call her own for 5 years so this has been such a heartwarming process. It’s beautiful place and the apartments are really kept up. So grateful for Laurie and all her help. I can finally be at peace knowing my Mom is safe and is in good hands

Imma start by saying there is always room for improvement but since I have started working here back in December I can say the new management and maintenance are doing there very best to open rooms up for new comers for independent living I have noticed that some residents are very sweet and are the for the wrong reason other are rude and disrespectful to the staff for no reason I have had time to sit down with management and she is treated very poorly for what she is trying to do for turning this place around for the better. Yes the pictures are nicer because they are dated there are smoking areas around the building, the grounds that this place is on has more than enough room for everyone. There are people here that can’t be left alone, that can’t take care of themselves , or that have a wheelchair that doesn’t need one I promise you management is turning this place around for the better good, if you are able to live alone and take care of yourself go ahead and call them I promise they don’t disappoint.

My mother just moved in and the apartment is infested with bedbugs. They are in the baseboards, on the floor, on brand new bedding, shelves, and rugs. The apartment was supposedly treated twice before she moved in and I was told there were no complaints of bedbugs at the apartment, nor were any seen when they inspected. I just can’t believe that. They are in the baseboards, all on the floor, on my mom’s shoes, some were found in the kitchen and bathroom. These are big bugs so if you know the lifecycle of these pests, then you would know this just didn’t occur. It has probably been an issue prior to her moving in. Management was informed and while they are apologetic, I feel like they aren’t handling this appropriately. They didn’t inspect the apartment. I was told it doesn’t need to be inspected, that they will go ahead and treat it, and if we continue to see bugs after 2 weeks, then they’ll inspect. When asked if bed bugs were an issue here, I was informed that its community living, in an apartment complex, of course there’s going to be issues. I’ve lived in apartments for 20yrs and not once did I have an infestation of bedbugs. So the apartment will now be treated for the third time.
We were at the apartment when the pest control came. It was one guy, with small bag that had one bottle of chemicals in it and an attached spraying nozzle. I did ask if that’s all they were using for the apartment, he said yes. Now keep in mind this is to treat my mother’s apartment and the adjoining apartments next to hers and above and below hers. Doesn’t seem adequate. Thank goodness we only moved a small amount of items in there. At this time, we aren’t moving anything else in this apartment and when she leaves, nothing will be coming with her. I just can’t take that risk.
According to the public health website, the apartment should have been inspected prior to be being treated to determine how severe the infestation is and to determine the best way to treat it. I believe they were aware of this infestation before my mother moved in.
I was informed they do not have to report an infestation to any agencies. Kinda crazy since it’s a HUD, low income, senior and disabled housing property.
Residents sit outside and hang out in the parking lot. They smoke. Some will ask you for food or money for cigarettes. They comment on your items you bring in. ā€œOh, look, she’s got coffee.ā€ Some residents hang out downstairs inside in the common areas. They appear to be mostly people with physical disabilities. So in wheelchairs, with walkers.
I was told this was independent living but there are, very clearly, people that live here that require assistance in order to ā€œmove about independentlyā€. I’ve seen home health aids or nurses come and go.
Overall, I’m very disappointed and disgusted. Low income housing doesn’t mean people have to live in squalor or infested apartments.
Unfortunately there don’t appear to be any agencies that inspect or regulate this aspect of government funded housing.

My mother stays there and I will try my best to move her out cause this apartment is nasty and has bed bugs and I don’t care who I make mad it is very sad here. I turned around and went back over there today and the apartment still has bad bugs and y’all up and sprayed about three weeks ago that’s not going to get rid of the bedbugs but it’s all right because I will be back probably Sunday or Monday to move my mother out of apartment ?because I do not appreciate how y’all say y’all gonna get rid of them and y’all don’t it’s ridiculous. My mother should not have to live in a bug bedbug And I will be calling the health department or held board and I will also be calling HUD and I will have my sister call him again because something needs to be done about this and if I make you mad I’m sorry but I don’t care that’s my mother that lives in apartment ?

I love the Cedars of Lebanon in Lebanon, Illinois. It is so much nicer than the last place that I stayed in Belleville, Illinois for 22 years. It is so much cleaner and so much safer and more brighter than the other place I was in Belleville Illinois. The management is very very nice and very supportive of me and they love me and they have my back too. I don't care what other people think or say about this place. It's not that bad. I consider it a mansion compared to the other place that I lived at for 22 years. I have lived at the Cedars of Lebanon in Lebanon, Illinois for 3 years and I am not happy here anymore. I have someone to blame for this. It is a woman who is also very TOXIC and she was very toxic to me throughout our friendship. I can't call her my friend anymore because she is very toxic and she doesn't care about me anymore.

Horrible place to live. Management lies! All of management, service coordinator, maintenance, all of them! SMOKE FREE facility, my eye. All the smokers smoke in their apartments and management doesn't do anything about it. Bullies run the place. They can do whatever they want. Management doesn't do anything. The house rules don't apply to "certain people"!!! Someone puts cat litter in the washing machines to make it look like a cat owner did it. Management tells you what kind of curtains you can have up on your windows, what you can and cannot put on your doors. I could go on but you get my message.
