Worst experience I've ever had renting!
I was contacted by a random person on Facebook telling me Burney Commons had sent my completed application to her with mine & my sons names, social security #s, birthdates, address, everything! Bonnie, the apartment manager, had apologized to her for sending it but never apologized to me for the breach of my privacy, even after I had brought it up. She dismissed it like it wasn't a big deal & said the company will provide a year of LifeLock. It's now 3 months later, and we still haven't received LifeLock protection or an apology or explanation.
Then there was the switching the units on me without notification. I applied for a 3 bedroom. The day they had us come sign the lease, they didn't tell me I was downgraded to a 2 bedroom 'til after I signed the lease and paid the deposit. I was furious. I never got an apology for that either. I did feel like I was being discriminated against many times throughout the process by the apartment managers.
After we moved in, there was an incident where a lady was yelling, wielding a long kitchen knife right in front of the play structure where my 9 yr old was playing. My older son grabbed his brother and went to tell the manager about what happened and she told him, "So, what do you want me to do about it? I'm not her mom!" When my sons told me that, I was outraged that she showed no concern about their safety.
As for the apartment, I have sprinklers not flush with the ceiling, practically hanging, the bathroom shower is not properly sealed around the edges, nor are the windows, the toilet is not sealed around the base, and all of the door locks are so dysfunctional, even key copies won't work properly. The bedrooms are tiny. They are about 11x11ft.
These are suppose to be "low income" apartments? How? Even if these apartments are new construction builds, they are not worth the "market value" the rent is set to. $2090 for the 3-bedrooms, $1437 for a 2-bedroom, and unsure of the 1bedroom rate but I think it's $1100. That's ridiculous for Burney.
