We moved into our new home, built by Argo Construction & Development, in 2022. We wanted a low-maintenance Trex deck and porch, but Argo’s quote was too high. To keep to budget, we decided to keep the wooden porch and removed the deck from the build. In 2023, we hired another company to build the Trex deck in the back, and they did an excellent job.
When it came time to upgrade our porch with Trex, our contractor removed the existing decking and immediately identified multiple structural issues. The four posts that support the porch roof were resting directly on the decking without proper support or connection to the cross beam. The decking beneath the posts was visibly bowing under the weight of the roof. The cross beam was not properly bolted together and the boards making up the beam were starting to pull apart. Plus, the steps were not constructed from a solid backing and beginning to bow in the middle.
On our contractor’s recommendation, we contacted the town’s code compliance department for an official inspection. The inspector confirmed that Argo failed to install required solid blocking under the posts, violating both the approved building plan and standard construction practices. This issue was likely missed during routine inspection as blocking is often installed later and contractors are trusted to complete this properly—something that clearly didn’t happen in our case. He also acknowledged the other structural concerns identified by our contractor were valid. To correct these issues, proper blocking needed to be installed beneath the posts, the four posts needed to be replaced and securely fastened to the new structural support, the cross beam needed to be properly bolted and reinforced, and the steps needed to be rebuilt for structural integrity. All this needed be corrected prior to proceeding with the planned cosmetic work and reinspected to ensure code compliance.
We promptly contacted Argo Construction about these issues. At first, they acknowledged the missing blocking as an “oversight” and agreed to install it but did not address the other structural issues. Given that we had already experienced subpar repairs from Argo in the past and Argo’s subcontractors were responsible for these issues in the first place, we decided to continue with our own trusted contractor for the needed repair work. We simply asked Argo to cover the cost of the necessary structural repairs—not the cosmetic upgrades. Instead of taking responsibility, Argo’s CEO falsely accused our contractor of removing the blocking during their demo—an outright fabrication. He even went so far as to accuse us of attempting to extort money from him for the cosmetic upgrades. Fortunately, our detailed documentation, photographic evidence, and payment records completely refute these baseless and malicious accusation. Ironically, despite the CEO’s claims that Argo was not at fault, they swiftly dispatched contractors to inspect and work on many other porches in the neighborhood—a clear indication that these issues were not isolated to our home.
Unfortunately, this behavior is not surprising. The CEO of Argo Construction has gained a reputation in our community for bullying, intimidation, and hostility toward homeowners who raise legitimate concerns about their homes. When investing a substantial amount of money to build a home, no one should have to deal with this kind of disregard for quality, accountability, and professionalism.
Despite these challenges, we love our home and the neighborhood. We are committed to ensuring our home is safe and well-maintained. However, we feel it important to share our experiences so other prospective buyers can make informed decisions with realistic expectations when considering Argo Construction & Development. If you do choose to work with them, be prepared to document everything, seek independent inspections, and advocate for yourself—because accountability is not something they offer willingly.

Argo Construction is at the top of their game! Our home is absolutely beautiful. Jennifer has gone above and beyond to make sure everything is done to the highest standard. She has been so pleasant to work with. She is very understanding and cares about making this process as painless as possible. She helped us pick out the best options to ensure the most beautiful home we have ever owned. Thank you Argo for always listening to us and caring about our needs. We recently moved into our first new construction home in a community Argo is building. From beginning to end, Jennifer, Vitaliy, and the rest of their team have been amazing with communication and follow through on our questions and requests. They truly care about us loving our home and their service stands out among the rest of the builders in the area. Even after we’ve moved in, they continue to be responsive to our requests. Gil showed us a few homes we were interested in during our scheduled meeting and we found our dream home. After that we were moved in within 2 months!

We purchased our newly constructed home in October 2021. Argo Construction, and specifically Jennifer Valentino, was, and continues to be, responsive to all of our requests to ensure we had a home constructed that met all of our specifications. This included completion of construction to meet our requested closing date. We have a beautiful home. Additional homes have been built in our new Argo Construction neighborhood and our community is really beginning to develop into a very nice place to live. Houses are built great. If there's a discrepancy they are quick to respond and get it done within the same day. My experience throughout the moving transition was hands down the smoothest. Moldings, trim, painting, plumbing and electrical we're perfectly installed.
