Literal SCAM. It cost $ to view apartments and $110 to apply. They let me APPLY for an apartment that was not available. They told me hours later. I called and requested a refund since they didn’t even look at my application and it was denied. I loved the place but SO happy I am not dealing with an unethical company like this. Literally save your money, time, and probably a lot of hassle for anything because EVERYTHING has to go through the “manager.” No one knows the phone can help you.

While the homes are correctly priced and attractive, the level of transparency from Mercer's end, the ridiculous amount of private information they needed, the fact that they charge per showing, and that they forcibly make their company write the lease and pay true realtors pennies in the dollar is worrying. Our company's top lawyers are currently looking into the specifics so any issues we dealt with are above board and understood in their marketing

They do a good job of interviewinfg tenants and using the correct paperwork to make sue that everyting is legal.
Also, M has a good accounting system and monthly reports of the property's income.

Mercer is a professional property management service that I have used over the years and have been extremely satisfied with their service. Things are so much easier when they are involved. I trust their knowledge of the complex rental laws in today’s property leasing scenario. They handle the accounting of expenses and income for the properties making documents at tax time complete, accurate and available. The Mercer portal is user friendly and kept up to date for all the information on maintenance requests and income/expense statements. There are more positives to this service than I can mention here but overall they get an A++ rating in my book. Very competent, reliable and dedicated and that is all anyone could ask for.

I don't write online reviews really, but I'm going to come out of my shell just for a moment. This is long overdue since we worked with Michael Chandler over 3 years ago for the purchase of our San Diego home. Here it is anyway!

Michael was our agent for a very long time while we looked for a home. We were hot and cold at times feeling like we wanted to buy and then feeling like we needed to wait. Then we were dealing with Covid and evolving the details of what we were looking for. Throughout that time, Michael had plenty of reasons to be a bit frustrated with us ... but he certainly never showed it. He was patient. He was informative. He was knowledgeable. He seemed to understand that we were going through a process and he was committed to helping us do the best we could for ourselves.

When we finally did decide to put some offers down, Michael guided us through the process with balanced feedback on our ideas and excellent communication. He was a strong advocate for us when we entered the final steps of the negotiating process. He saved us money. He had reputable connections when we needed other service providers.

We still live in the home we bought with Michael and couldn't be happier. It was great to get to know Michael while we worked together and if we look to do more real estate deals in the future we will certainly be calling on him again.

My husband and I were previous clients of the Mercer Group and had a very bad experience. This business is not honest and dealt in very suspect practices. Our agent who we ended up firing because of dishonest actions and falsehoods was not trustworthy or qualified. There were active attempts to get my husband and I to increase our bid/offers on Kensington homes under the guise of additional bids/offers from other phantom buyers. We didn’t trust this group and had a very unsettling feeling based on facts and the actions of the team. We felt betrayed and were confident the group could not be trusted or involved in the purchase of our Kensington dream home. While working with the Mercer group, they were not forthcoming about housing prices and downplayed issues (rotting wood, damaged roof, mold, etc) during our home inspection; all simply to get a sale. Their main focus is their commissions. We expect our agent team to encumber us with honestly and assist with finding a home that suits our needs..:not just any home, so they can receive a commission or a sale. They were outright dishonest on comps on the home sales in the neighborhood; I know because I did the extra work to verify and discovered we were being lied to. All in an effort to sell homes at higher prices for larger commissions. They never cared about us as customers only as potential commissions. Lied about actual housing values, lied about additional/potential buyers, and lied about the importance of the items discovered during our inspection. Upon further investigation, it was discovered, a member of the team we worked with has a “questionable” reputation in the real estate community for telling “lies” and not disclosing the full facts. Its important that agents and buyer or sellers can trust each other and this is not the team I will recommend. We did end up finding a new agent with another group who was honest and trustworthy to assist us with our Kensington home purchase. In conclusion, Patrick Mercer called me begging and pleading with me to remove my initial review. He wasn’t actually concerned about our bad experience but how this review would affect his business. He knew my review was totally true and even offered to “send me a gift” if I removed the bad review. I initially removed it but felt I was contributing to the deception of future clients; that wasn’t proper. I don’t want anyone to get scammed or taken advantage of by this team due to their marketing and social media presence as well as the way they add & remove their MLS listings every 30 days to deceive potential clients on their deal closing times. This isn’t proper and I don’t want others to be deceived like we were. Please note I didn’t want to receive any gift from Patrick Mercer to remove my prior review.

I purchased a home in Kensington many months before I was able to move to San Diego. This was a very stressful time for me and I really didnt know what to do with the house while I was thousands of miles away and couldnt watch over it. I reached out to Barbara at Mercer and asked her for advice. We decided to rent the home for several months. Barbara took over everything and this allowed me to relax about it. It was quickly rented and Barb and the renters have taken excellent care of it. Right before the renters moved in a small leak was found in the ceiling (even though it had a new roof !). Barb took care of it very quickly with her extensive list of repair and maintenance people. The renters got in on time and the leak never returned. The renters took great care of the house and now have left for a different state. I will be moving in soon. Thanks for everything Barb, you took a huge weight off of my shoulders when I desperately needed the help. 🙂
