As I was acclimating myself to the new surroundings at the "resort style" apartment development I recently moved into, the Luxurious Bernardo Crest Apartments, I happened upon young gentleman in a golf cart sporting an Impeccably pressed and clean.
relatively speaking for the work considered, comfortable uniform of Essex Properties, He possessed the charm of a “Tony Curtis” and “Cary Grant” , blended into one and when we met, as I briefly paused my constitution, I was additionally taken by his encyclopedic knowledge of carpentry, engineering, and his mastery of several other subjects one need to be fluent in, if they choose a career in public planning or real estate development. I happened to stumble upon this treasure trove of new found friendship and Bob Villa “Always good to know someone” Mastery of DIY skills, because I had a question about a GFI receptacle in my newly refurbished and painted bathroom, that I just moved into at the Luxury Bernardo Crest Apartments. I had been the head engineer at a mobile home park many years prior to my retirement, that was the reason why, when I met, Juan, the amazing Concierge/Engineer at the Luxurious Bernardo Crest Apartments, where I live, I was so impressed I had to get home and tell management and the public what a true ASSET I know Juan is to the residents, company and team, here at Bernardo Crest. Keeping in mind, that it takes ALL of us here to make up the family that we have, but once in a while, I believe to let the individual gems SHINE. Hats off to Juan !! Thanks for helping me every time I think I am being a pain, he can’t do enough for me. He told me the first time we met, “I personally make sure my residents have their issues resolved before the day is done” Talk about looking out and having a sense of ownership and personal responsibility in a position, just like my fav President ..The Buck Stops Here. This review is to commemorate my new friend and staff representative Julie
Brown of Essex Properties and Bernardo Crest Apartments. I rented my place last week sight unseen. I trusted the well made and informative website and relied on the comments of close confidences.
Walking in for the first time, and signing the lease before I saw, I MUST SAY, that they are EVERYTHING THEY SAY THAY ARE, AND MORE. But it was julie's smile and the wonderful comments I read about her on the web that finalized my decision in my mind, and I went for it.
Sight unseen, WOW that worked out perfect and in meeting Julie I can see why she is an ASSET to the company she works for and her clients that she so graciously serves. My apartment is outstanding, sparkling clean upon walking in, (I thought I was going to walk face to face into Mr. Clean!), roomy is not the word for it. I had to strategize a Lewis and Clark Expedition the first time I went looking at my new crib. Amazingly happy satisfied fantastic copacetic blown away groovy absolutely HOME.

I am writing this review to commend the professional repair job that our maintenance professional, Carlos completed in my luxury apartment at Bernardo Crest Apartments. Carlos arrived within minutes of my filing a work order, and quickly diagnosed the problem and competently fixed the problem within thirty minutes. I could not ask for better service anywhere!! Another amazing reason to live at Bernardo Crest Luxury Apartments, in San Diego.

I give this property a five stars. I love living here. Angel is a ray of sunshine. He is very friendly and goes above and beyond to make this property look immaculate. He always says hello when I am out walking my cat. He even drew a picture of him. Maintenance is also great. They always are quick to resolve any issues I have. Great job guys!

We lived here for 4 years. Quiet and safe neighborhood. I would like to extend my appreciations to the following staffs, Brenda, Rebekah, Julie, Juan and Carlos. Especially on our last day, packing is kinda stressful, thanks to Carlos V., who was there on our last few hours, he was very kind and helpful.

Julie brown is a fantastic on site manager. Very welcoming and friendly and made me feel right at home. And she takes time out of her day to say hi to my dog, which he loves!

Also Juan is super helpful. Comes very quickly for maintenance and is very friendly.

Carlos is fantastic too. Always super helpful and kind and the dog loves him!

And Angelino is fantastic. Great to have friendly outgoing maintenance crew who make it feel like home. And the dog absolutely loves him. Thanks for the caricature angelino!!! It will stay on the fridge forever

I am writing to express my utmost satisfaction and appreciation for the exceptional service provided by Julie. She has consistently gone above and beyond in promptly addressing our maintenance requests, ensuring that our stay at Bernardo Crest remains pleasant and comfortable.

What truly sets Julie apart is her warm and friendly demeanor. Whenever we come across each other, she never fails to greet us with a cheerful "hi" and a friendly smile, which adds a personal touch to our interactions.

I would like to highlight a recent incident that truly exemplifies Julie's integrity and kindness. Just a few weeks ago, I had unknowingly dropped my wallet on the street. To my surprise, Julie discovered it and promptly brought it home, where she personally handed it over to my wife. I cannot express enough gratitude for her honesty and thoughtfulness during this episode!!!

Julie, your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we sincerely appreciate the lengths you go to in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction.

Julie Brown is excellent always. She has a smile that always brightens our day. She always smiles when she sees me, my wife and our son. Her continuous interactions with us, are exemplary of a wonderful staff member.

She is always present, and on site taking care of the property. We as residents here, love seeing her, and hope she will continue to stay to deliver continued excellence to Bernardo Crest.

Don’t be fooled by all of the positive reviews of this apartment complex. Notice every review mentions a specific employee by name. They encourage employees to ask for a five star review in order for the employees to get raises or promotions.
My roommate and I moved out August 3, 2024 two days before our lease ended on August 5, 2024. Our move out inspection was completed by the maintenance manager, Juan Estrada, who assured us we wouldn’t be charged for resurfacing the showers (“normal wear”) and that touch ups on the walls would be ($30-50). On August 15, we received our itemized list of charges. Not only are they keeping our security deposit of $600, they are asking for an additional $215.
When we emailed (three separate times) to ask about the charges, no one responded. Our $215 fee has now been sent to collections without any response to our inquiries. The law in California states that the security deposit must be returned within 21 days or an itemized list of repairs must be provided. This is atrocious behavior and I do not encourage anyone to live here.

I’ve been living here for just over three months and the complex is great. Very clean and quick to respond to maintenance requests. It is a quiet complex which is nice. Julie Brown is always working diligently to keep the grounds clean and always has a friendly smile when I see her. She is very dedicated to her job and consistently remembers my name and any issues (we needed our dishwasher door replaced) I’ve had with the apartment and does her best to expedite any requests. Thank you, Julie!
