If you end up homeless is Essex county prepare to be sent on a wild goose chase. You people are careless & send people running around for paperwork just to still not have any answers. No one is never in the same page. Other workers stating that they can’t even do half the stuff they do. These people will kick mothers with 2+ child out of homeless shelter off of assumption. Or send them into a rotation of shelters. Maybe do better with ACTUALLY placing families in homes instead of having them in shelters for MONTHS! Meanwhile immigrants can come in & get all the assistance they need. DO BETTER ESSEX COUNTY

Everyone who works in this building is absolutely USELESS!! I’ve been calling to simply replace my EBT card and all of their phones are DISCONNECTED or they must be putting all of the phones on DND because the automated message comes on when I’m calling during “business” hours and then the call automatically hangs up. I’ve also submitted a requested through the wecare website that they so called have and STILL NO RESPONSE! So now I have to go out of my way to go in person for something so simple!!

5 Stars for the great service! I had the pleasure of being assisted by Mrs. Grant. She helped me with my daughters aftercare and made sure I had all the documents and information necessary. been waiting 3 month for someone to call me in regards to snap application . went to the office stayed there 2 hours for someone to tell me that theres nothing she can do to help me besides giving her supervisor my information . they claim they are still backed up with applications from covid , meanwhile other counties are processing application in a timely matter and actually sees you when you go their center. nobody returns any of my calls either . horrible

Got cut off without a letter of recertification or anything! Called no answer and finally when I get an answer the lady says we forgot to send out a letter but there not much I can do you have to wait till end of month to receive snap benefits! Sent everything I needed via email and still nothing! Is there another number I can’t call? Cause how is it that they open and right away the lines are super busy! I’m pretty sure they do that on their own!

I have to question my sanity every time I visit the office or call them. Since the start of the Pandemic, you have to listen to a 3-4 minute message in its entirety, otherwise, your call gets disconnected. Sometimes, I have to listen through that message only to get told I have to call later since the lines are too busy. In the offices before the pandemic, I've seen staff so incompetent, I was asked to translate for people out the blue. This office probably pays for access to a toll number to call for an interpreter, and somehow you still ask me to translate for free. It's a shame the start of the phone call mentions the desire to provide accurate and good support and yet they fail to even provide the most basic needs to get someone to talk to, or even provide an online system to make it easier for all of us.

Update: I had to send them a letter telling them I moved to another county and they never bothered to move my case. Even better, when I left the state for a new job and asked for them to cancel my policy, rather than sending a letter to inform me my plan was terminated, they never bothered to cancel my plan for months and sent a denial letter for Medicaid because I sent it to the wrong state. This place really is a mess.
