My daughter and her roommates have had a horrible experience with the owner and property manager, Will Spence, and their lack of response to some major issues. The girls have not had a working washer since August 30. It’s still not fixed despite two or three attempts to fix it. Also, both ceiling fans in the bedroom are broken and haven’t worked since they moved in. Their deadbolt is very tricky and even the maintenance man hasn’t been able to easily get into the apartment. I was initially very impressed when I spoke with Will Spence These and replace each and one of these things. After that, he invaded and avoided my subsequent calls despite telling me he would give me his cell phone, which he never did. The girls still don’t have a washer, hoping that the part that was ordered may fix it, but there’s no guarantee. Nonetheless, they have been spending a lot of money at the laundromat and it’s been a month. Also, the deadbolt issue was never addressed and replaced. Neither were the ceiling fans. I wouldn’t advise anybody to stay in this complex with such poor response and maintenance. One girl told my daughter she had been smelling mold for about a month. There are so many other options to choose from please take advantage of them. I sure wish we had.

Highland handles my 2 rental properties and I have been extremely happy with the speed in which they have found good tenants, the communication regarding maintenance/repairs, and the professionalism of their property managers, especially Gisela. I have had bad experiences with other companies in the past, and I am very happy to be working with Highland. Highly recommended.

I feel compelled to share my negative experience with Will Spence. Unfortunately, I encountered disrespectful behavior when I attempted to address some serious concerns regarding his management practices. It was disheartening to see him dismiss my inquiries and refuse to communicate with my real estate broker, which I believe reflects a concerning approach to tenant relationships.

Regrettably, my experience has led me to believe that there are discriminatory practices at play, which not only affect me but could also impact other tenants. I feel it is essential to stand up against these actions, and I am currently considering legal avenues to address the situation.

I sincerely hope that Mr. Spence will take this opportunity to reflect on his practices and choose to foster a more respectful and equitable environment for his tenants moving forward.

Lee and the Highland Property Management team have distinguished themselves as a thoughtful, responsive, and considerate team. It's been a pleasure to work with them throughout the apartment showing, application, and move in process. I've been constantly impressed by their willingness to help especially with minor repair requests that are promptly addressed. I recently moved into a property owned by Highland and I can say they are nothing short of AMAZING. My property manager Lee has been incredible. Recently we had some issues with our internet company which was independent from my lease at my apartment complex. Lee quickly jumped into help with the situation (even though this was an internet company issue and to no fault of the property management) and assisted all residents until the problem was resolved. He provides quality communication and genuinely cares about the well-being of his residents. I truly look forward to continuing to live at this property due to the wonderful management experience that Lee has provided over the past month. I am truly thankful to have a great property manager!

Looking to move from out of state for work this was the first interactions we had with any home we were interested in. After 2 failed attempts we were finally able to do a walk through via video. We fell in love with the property and the location. A week later after submitting the applications my husband was told that we were approved but due to credit the owner requested a double security deposit at a total of 3 months rent ( $1500) and the pet deposit to move in. We agreed and were waiting for the lease to be drawn up. Called today to be informed that we were never approved, because the owners were getting other offers and rather keep their options open due to our credit issues. A few hours later I get a notification from 2 listing sites that the monthly rent has now decreased by $100. Some thing is very fishy, I hope this isn't what I'm to expect of "Sothern Hospitality" moving forward.
