I’ve had no issue as a renter with them. And as I come down to the end of my lease, and three years of tenancy they always come out IMMEDIATELY to fix the problem, even you left your keys, somewhere. The ladies at the office front desk are always ready to great me by name, and have done nothing but support me and my own personal shortcoming in personality at times. Neighbors are all super friendly and accommodating…I should know, I spent 9 months of bed rest and sedatives from a severe leg injury during my tenancy, and all were willing to help me with things like helping me with groceries, shopping, taking out garbage…etc.

I’m a three year tenant, and I was happy every interaction. Oh, and paying your bill is fast and easy, that I just wake up with an alarm a couple days before and pay rent online.

Be mindful what they advertise as open is not, they will take your application fee then let you know what units are open. Very misleading, I would avoid this property company and save your time and money. RentCafe is not updated with actual available units at all.

Mason is not the kind of guy to care about a person's circumstances, he only cares about enforcing useless rules and getting as much money from his renters who are, in majority, college aged young adults. If you are one day late for your renewed parking stickers (that shift randomly in the middle of the year) expect your car to be towed, your day to be uprooted, and a minimum of $250 coming out of your wallet. If you are looking for someone who actually cares about your living conditions and well being, I wouldn't use Mason properties. However, if you're looking to pay and extra $50 a month per pet and be constantly worried about your mode of transportation, this is the place for you. I hate leaving this review because the front office staff have always been very nice to work with but Mason's policies and management are crooked and greedy.

I lived at their Normal Road Apartments for two years to finish college. Overall it was uneventful, which is good. They were prompt about answering the phone during business hours to answer questions. They also have a 3-day grace period on rent which is thoughtful.

I'm giving them 4 stars because the whole building is sort of decrepit for the price (around $1k even), though that seems to be typical for DeKalb. It's an old building (1950's), window A/C, cheap feel, poor circulation. That said, the soundproofing was good enough to allow a subwoofer without disturbing the neighbors. And the fiber internet (Metronet) was excellent.

In conclusion, it's a fair choice if you're excited to move out of your parents' for the first time. Otherwise, I'd recommend spending more on a nicer place if you can afford it.

WARNING!!! I would advise any African American or interracial couples not to rent any of their properties. Me and my fiance (an interracial couple) have faced harassment and cops being called on us simply because of RACIST neighbors that target us. We have not caused any problems with anyone and have been nice to everyone since renting one of their apartments. So this is very disheartening and we will be moving as soon our lease is up as we do NOT want our children being raised in this type of environment! This is the first and LAST time we hope to experience anything like this. Thank you!

I toured a couple of these units when I was looking for college housing. Good locations! However, they don't allow pets :/ It was unfortunate finding that out, especially because they have an office bearded dragon. You'd think that would indicate they are pet friendly, but nope. No pets.

If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Awful service, awful people, awful apartment. No one is there to maintenance your apartment. They will wait until you move out and just charge you for anything that you asked them to fix months ago. Not to mention the apartment itself is a disaster and smells disgusting. Absolutely awful. Would never recommend!
