They are the worst property managers because they maintain nothing and have no groundskeeper. Want to wash your clothes? The machine will take your money and its a hit or a miss if you get a machine that actually works. Want to work out? The work out room is unsanitary and dirty. There is dry piss in one of the cup holders of the treadmills and someone stole the TV off the wall. Pics for proof of the workout room. The apartments themselves are nice but they don't do background checks so you get whoever for neighbors. Loud, smelly and dirty.

This place is ran terribly! Tiffany the property manager is very rude and unprofessional!! As well as Kim, Jenna, and the other women who work in the office. They always have an attitude when you ask certain questions and don’t know what they’re talking about half the time. And she will try to keep your security deposit as well!! Do not rent with them. They’re beyond terrible. This is the worst renting experience I’ve ever had. I wish my complex never got bought out by them!! The property manager is never in the office when you need to talk to her as well!!

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

My boyfriend and I lived in one of their apartments for a year and a half and it was the worst year and a half of our lives! They do not keep the property clean (garbage in hallways, parking lots, and court yard area). If you have a dog watch out for chicken bones because they are everywhere! Other people living in the building have no consideration for other people. They throw their garbage in bushes and leave it by the doors. Parents yell at their kids to stay out in the hallways where they then proceed to run, yell, and throw food! The number of times that the police were called because of a noise complaint and fights was ridiculous! Females carry Mace!

To top it off, the apartment that we lived in looked 100x better when we moved out then when we moved in and we never had a late payment! I had been told by the employee named Kim that our apartment was move in ready and she had never seen one look this good after someone moved out. She also said that because Hunter Properties was under new management that we would be GUARANTEED our security deposit money back and they owed us a months rent because we had over paid the last month! Kim was going to make sure that we got it all back. Well looks like the new management is just as bad as the old and you can't trust their employees. I have called four times since we moved out asking when we can expect our money back. The first three times they took my name and number and said they would give me a call back and never did. The last time the lady that I spoke to said we weren't getting anything back and that is all she would say.

Their are many other apartments that are available in Dekalb that are not owned by these people. GO THERE! Or I recommend looking for apartments in the surrounding areas.

Worst experience of my life.

The building flooded. There was a fire in the building. there were sparks coming from the outlets in my unit.

I lived there for 3 years before they bought out our place. They never did an inspection or checked the condition of the building when they bought it.

They promised repairs and services that never happened.

They gave me the wrong parking pass and then lied to me and told me they had a picture proving they gave me the right one. My car was towed and they mysteriously lost the photos of the stickers and then agreed to a reimbursement at that time.

Tiffany was unhelpful and rude ah. She claims to be the owner but the buisness wont last too long the way its run. Ive warned every person I know at NIU and the surrounding area about you.

Jenna was a constant source of frustration, misinformation and outright lies. She was also rude and bragged constantly about how she got free rent in our building.

Ive had to contact a laywer over my security deposit.

Buyer Beware!!!!

By far the worst place to live. Maintenance will never fix anything. Management is a joke. Tiffany is very rude, aggressive, and thinks she can yell at anyone who enters. The ladies that work the desk in the office are snobby girls who always have attitudes and give dirty looks. The doors the main buildings dont work so multiple break ins, homeless people sleeping in the laundry rooms, strangers in and out. The smell of drugs is unbearable. The hallways smell like wet carpet. The unit I was in, the floor was all cracked, holes in the ceiling, cracks everywhere, windows wouldnt lock. Theyre a big scam and WILL take your secuity deposit. This place is just the absolute worst.

I was in building 832 and I’m convinced that any good review about it is fake. This is the worst management company. There’s no upkeep, and the tenants’ kids in the complex disturb everyone. There is mold on one of the entire walls in the weight room (a huge health hazard, not that they care), and most of the complex has been destroyed by the tenants who live there. We were told we would get our deposit back and after trying multiple times to contact them, finally got the answer that we won’t be getting it. No matter what you do, the people at Hunter are going to ENSURE you do not get your money back. The rent is cheap and so is the experience, so unless you don’t mind living in dog feces and garbage in the hallways, I wouldn’t even waste your time with these people.

I recently had an appointment to tour an appt initially when I came into the office everyone had smug looks on their faces. I told them my name and that I was there for my appointment. Naomi is the person who scheduled me to see a 3 bedroom but when I got there Jenna very rudely stated "I don't have anything to show you" with the most smug look on her face. So I explained to her that well someone booked me to see a 3 br so of that was a mistake then that is NOT my fault. She was unapologetic about the mistake she clearly didn't give a damn. Long story short the women in this office are very nasty people one lady even slammed her phone down on the table. They are clearly very unorganized and shoud not be doing custumer service. I'm glad I seen there nasty ways before I made the mistake of renting with them.

I had a great experience while renting with them. Pittsley Realty were our original landlords and they were terrible they showed us a spacious one bedroom but then put us into a tiny one-bedroom upon move-in. The staff at Hunter DeKalb is so nice and Tiff is great. She really helped me when I was in a bind to mutually consent to drop the lease I was in.
