This is the first large management company I've used in Chicago (after two, smaller mom-and-pop operations) and I was a bit wary, but I've honestly been pleasantly surprised at both the ease of working with Rockwell and the responsiveness. The maintenance team is amazing - super friendly and extremely fast (In two years, we haven't had to submit too many requests, but when they do they almost always get handled within 48 hours). I'm surprised by how quickly our stairs and sidewalks get cleared after snow. The management team has been great: transparent with our lease and timely in their communication. We've renewed twice already.

I was excited to move into the condo. But since getting here all I want is to get pit of my lease. Maintenance does half ass jobs.
Never completes a Maintenance issue all the way.
This is not worth 1800 a month.
Non stop issues with the pools. Cars getting broken into. Why is there security? He doesn't do his job. Best part they keep the main locked to keep us safe. But you post a code for anyone to see.

Not one to write many reviews, but the experience I had with Alexis with Rockwell Property over the phone was the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Trying to make a payment on the online portal and she told me to figure it out myself without even trying to help.

Slumlords = Rockwell management! My girlfriend was so excited to get her first apartment in the Evanston area a seemingly nice 2 bedroom for a hefty 1600$ a month and on our move in date the key they gave us didn't work. There was a car parked in our assigned spot that was an additional 100$ a month! If you see any apartments through this company stay away. It's an absolute rip off and you won't get your money's worth or even a timely response when you have any issues. Rockwell is a living hell.

Absolutely horrible management company. The building is plagued with mail theft, smoking in units, and safety issues. All complaints about smoking, theft, or safety are brushed off at best or just outright ignored. Maintenance requests are similarly ignored. The unit was visibly dirty when I moved in. The elevators don't work half the time and the other half of the time are unreliable to the point that getting stuck in them is a real danger. Don't waste your money. Like others have said, I'd give zero stars if possible.

I've dealt with our ceiling leaking 7 times over 2 years of living here. Each time they say they fixed the source, and do a shitty job patching up the drywall. A few months later it'll start leaking again. The management just points fingers at the maintenance team and does nothing to help. Completely incompetent. We'll see if they'll compensate for our damaged belongings. Do yourself a favor a stay away from this company.

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM ROCKWELL!!!!! RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN!!!!! I beg you to heed my warning so that you don’t have to experience the same horrors that I did. They do not care for their buildings, their residents/tenants, safety, peace and quiet, maintenance, ANYTHING. Here’s some inadequacies I’ve experienced in my 3 short years living in the 1632 Hinman complex - and these are just a few of them. Have had a pipe burst THREE TIMES (all three times completely flooding my bedroom and destroying my furniture/rugs - came inches away from destroying a $3k computer/pc set up), sump-pump backup and flooding black mold/feces into my bedroom permanently ruining my furniture and likely contaminating the wall with feces and mold (NO, they did NOT send a sanitation/hazmat team after!), ZERO insulation in floors and ceilings (so you hear literally EVERYTHING your neighbors are doing… yep, you can even hear their children screaming through the ceiling at 10pm at night!) and after complaining to management probably 7-8 times about the noise, nothing was ever done to remedy the situation (i.e. they never spoke to the upstairs neighbor about being mindful of quiet hours), management does NOT enforce safety nor keep their buildings up to code (our outer door which opens to all upstairs apartments has begun to lock on its own, locking all residents out of their apartments, and what has management done? instead of actually FIXING the door, they left it to the residents to come up with a makeshift way to block the locking mechanism so the door can’t lock at all - SO UNSAFE!), maintenance staff are NOT up to par with taking care of the building, they often have no answers to your problems and say “well call the right person to come fix this TOMORROW” - UNACCEPTABLE when my apartment is flooding NOW! Leasing office/management also does not care about the happiness of their tenants. If they did, they would enforce our complaints (we’ve received 10+ notices saying that outdoor strollers/things on the lawn need to be put in our storage lockers, and anything that wasn’t stored by the end of the week would be thrown out - empty threats because they sent this notice 10+ times and never did ANYTHING to ANYONE’S items). Blatant disregard for the building, no wonder it’s falling apart. HEED MY WARNING, you DO NOT want to be stuck with this management company/living in these properties when it’s FREEZING weather and a pipe bursts feces into your apartment and the best that they can offer you is a plumber who takes over an hour to arrive when water is GUSHING into your hallway faster than you can scoop it out and then has to call another plumber because they realized they didn’t know what they were doing. THIS BUILDING IS FAR FROM LIVABLE. It’s not even slightly bearable. It’s uninhabitable. You get all that horror and headache for a low price tag of $2825/month, and they will absolutely raise the rent on you every single year (my lease started at $2625 and now they’re asking $2925, no chance in HELL am I staying here!). I honestly wouldn’t even give the good reviews any credence. Whatever “good” people have experienced living here DOES NOT make up for the horrible management and maintenance of their properties and tenants. Wish I could give them zero stars. RUN AS FAR AND AS FAST AS YOU CAN.
