How anyone could oppose turning a toxic waste dump into jobs, housing green space, and usable, livable buildings is beyond me, but the entrenched Chicago leftist Karens will literally complain about anything if given the opportunity. Can’t wait until this former trash heap is developed into a beautiful new neighborhood where businesses and families can thrive.

The steelyard > this. Why don’t others see the cost of exportation of our precious blue collar jobs in exchange for gaudy apartment buildings/units? Yuppies in the 5 star reviews such as you all had best go back to california, New York, or aspen. we don’t need this or you people here, disrespectfully I might add. New medical building looks amazing. When finished this whole project will add a whole lot of units and look a lot better than the gross steel yard that was here before. Plus glad they cleaned it up.

Lincoln Yards is centrally located within the northside of Chicago along the North Branch of the Chicago River. Specifically, Lincoln Yards is bounded by the Kennedy Expressway to the west; Webster Avenue to the north; Clybourn Avenue to the east; and North Avenue to the south. The area is in close proximity to all major modes of transportation in Chicago including Metra commuter trains, CTA ‘L’ stations and bus stops, I-90/I-94, water taxi transportation and the 606 bike trail.

Construction Updates
Phase one site work for Lincoln Yards is underway. To date, 27,700 tons of contaminated soil has been removed, more than 1,060 cubic yards of lead soil has been remediated, and 36 underground storage tanks have been removed. Additionally, three ballfields known as Fleet Fields opened in July 2019 at 1397 W. Wabansia Ave.

While the design for the new Throop Street Bridge has been completed, the start date for construction remains to be determined. The bridge will provide a new river crossing between Cortland and North avenues, better connecting the transportation network on the North Side and providing more access to the Lincoln Yards site.

I’m going to miss the toxic wasteland that was here before, but the plans look pretty cool and it’ll be great to have apartments for all the people being displaced by the Lincoln park nimbys buying up 3 flats and turning them into mega mansions

Another bring in rich out of towners while the ripple effect of outrageous property taxes/values displaces low and medium income people. No indication of mixed income residency while GIVING property tax money to the developer. Guess increasing the homeless population is a plus.

Shame on the developers for taking TIF funds from Chicago residents who need it the most and giving it to the uber-rich. Shame on our officials for stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. Tasteless architecture that in no way honors the history of the city, anyhow.
