I took a new job in DC in 2021 but was unable to work in person because of the Pandemic. When vaccines became available, I finally moved to DC for my job. I was an early 30s professional who needed to move efficiently but also find an affordable place on a government salary. IMI made that entire process so easy.

If you're new to DC, know that there is an entire market of privately owned housing options that you will never find on Google or apartment websites. The easiest and best way to gain access to these properties is through a good property management company.

I found an apartment that was perfect for me in DC under IMI's management. It was in the exact location I wanted (Dupont Circle), 1 br and 1 bath, perfectly within my budget (~$1,695/month), and newly renovated. After I contacted IMI, Nicola responded very quickly.

Even though I could not be there in person, Nicole coordinated a time with me and FaceTime called me to give me a tour of the apartment. She was extremely welcoming and was not trying to oversell me on the property or pressure me. I told her I wanted to move quickly on the property because I really liked it. Nicola moved as fast as I wanted and the apartment was mine just like that.

Nicola sent me the necessary paperwork every step of the way, dealt directly with the HOA, and answered any questions I had. She even mailed me the keys to the place in advance so that I could show up to the apartment and move in without any hassle. IMI has its own payment portal and they responded to any emails I sent promptly. At one point, IMI even reached out to me to proactively repair a defective appliance in the apartment before it broke — without me even having to mention it.

About 7 months into my lease, I had to move for my job again. I was so sad to leave DC and really worried about leaving my lease early. (I had never done that before.) It was no problem for Nicola. She gave me the option of finding my own tenant to take over the lease (subject to IMI's approval) or I could pay half a month's rent and she could find a tenant and deal with the whole process for me. I chose the latter option and within a week or two everything was squared away. I honestly couldn't believe how easy and seamless it was. Once I moved out, they inspected the unit, sent me a move out report, and a final account ledger.

I am very grateful to Nicola and IMI for helping me deal with such a hectic year. If I move back to DC at any point, I will use IMI (and ask for Nicola).
