Ive been a regular customer at Safeway in Tracy, CA, but my most recent experience has left me deeply concerned. This morning I was taking my time to stock up on groceries and getting last minute items before I go into labor tonight, after making two separate purchases and using the self-checkout, I was unjustly accused of stealing by one of the store representatives. I was still inside the store and had my receipt in hand, yet I was closely monitored and confronted by the employee who falsely assumed I had stolen something.

I immediately returned to the self-checkout area, presented my receipt, and expressed how uncomfortable I was with the treatment. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt unfairly targeted, and I strongly believe I was racially profiled. Such behavior is not only unprofessional but also illegal. It’s disheartening to feel like a valued customer when you’re treated this way.

Upon reading other reviews, it seems I am not alone in this experience. Several customers have mentioned similar issues, including being treated rudely by staff and being unfairly profiled. This pattern is troubling, and it suggests that this behavior may be an ongoing issue at this particular Safeway location.

I am extremely disappointed by the lack of respect for customer rights and dignity at this store. Racial profiling should never be tolerated, and I hope Safeway takes this matter seriously and addresses the issue with its employees. As a loyal customer, I expect to be treated with fairness, and this experience has made me question my continued patronage.

I sincerely hope Safeway will take immediate action to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and fairness in the future.

This particular location...the deli department where Chinese food is sold, they're are the most unprofessional. I stopped by to pick up a quick lunch and I stood there for approx 3-4 minutes before anyone helped me. This was the very last time I will shop at this particular location.

I just want to thank Karen D. I was there about a week ago and went through self checkout. They were very busy and several registers were having issues. Karen was above and beyond patient and helpful. I had 2 registers freeze up on me while trying to get the offered discount on certain items, and both times she was very kind and went out of her way to make sure myself and all the other customers that were having problems got everything they needed taken care of. Im not sure how much they're paying her but it's not enough. I worked grocery stores and retail other places for years and what she was dealing with that night was enough to make most anyone just walk out. I've seen people quit over less. But Karen stepped up with a smile on her face and made sure everyone there knew they were a valued customer. You guys need 20 more employees just like her. She deserves a promotion and a raise for sure. I'll be making sure that Safeway gets my business as long as I live in tracy and I will be recommending everyone that asks go there as well. Thank you so much for being such a kind, caring, considerate person Karen.

Safeway has always been one of my favorite stores. They hold a special place in my heart from an event I had in childhood. I wanted to comment on this because Safeway has always been labeled s a expensive story but the last couple times I went there, there coupons on the app made it cheaper than the leading grocery stores in the community.

A few days ago I got my kids some bluey snacks in the produce area. My kids had ate more than half by the time we realized they were expired, close to ONE MONTH expired Jan 22. I explained to the customer service register worker (JENNIFER) dark hair glasses about the situation. She completely ignored my conserns, no apology no nothing, she proceeded to tell me I need a phone number to process the return even though the return was less than an hour from purchase & with a receipt. I did not enter a phone number at the time of purchase, she forced me to enter a phone number or she wouldn’t process my refund. She also wanted me to enter a physical card when I did apple pay. I don’t know if she was having a bad day because it was valentine’s & she had to work but she is extremely unprofessional. I have a family member who is a safeway manager, she says it’s not mandatory specifically if I didn’t even enter a phone number in the first place. I even looked online at their return policy and it’s no where on there. She was just trying to make things difficult.

Wanted to return about 5 items an hour after I purchased them. They asked why did I want to return the items and told them we over bought a few things. She said "that's not a sufficient reason to return an item." Its like $25 dollars worth of stuff. I didnt know Safeway was struggling that bad

We went to the bakery at Safeway for the cupcakes and smash cake for our son’s 1st birthday party! They decorated his little cake so perfectly, it went wonderfully with the cake topper we found on Etsy. And the cupcakes were so tasty! They were vanilla with cream cheese frosting. The bakery can’t customize the cupcakes too much, so we added graham cracker crumbs and adorable sugar sea creature cupcake toppers from Etsy ourselves. We were so happy with how everything turned out! The customer-service was a bit lacking, but the prices were very reasonable and the bakers are so skillful!

Tonight will be forever my last night ever shopping at Safeway ever again. After having the Safeway rewards program for so long, you guys are now deciding to do a digital only coupon deal where I have to download an app in order to be able to get the sales currently in the store. I refuse to shop places where I have to download an app in order to get a sale. At this point, everybody’s phone is going to be full of applications to every single store in there city because they cannot get a sale without the app I will continue to shop at the plenty of other stores that don’t require me to download anything in order to get a promotion.
