Joel is a man who is single handedly running this business at 86 years old. He may make mistakes be he corrects them immediately and he is an exceptional human being outside of being a businessman. Do not let the bad reviews or ill will of others turn you away from doing business with him. He personally helped me work out all issues we had.

I would have given zero stars but had to give one just to be able to post.
Made a purchase from this dealer at Amazon site a few months ago. Purchase took forever to arrive with no postal tracking made available and seller was of no assistance.

I had demanded a refund but was not issued one finally a month later the coin arrived.

It was supposed to be a silver proof coin but it had an acid burn on the back of it. The coin was obviously flawed although it was listed as brilliant uncirculated which it was not.
I gave them every opportunity and the benefit of the doubt initially to try to assist me and make good on my order but no solution or detailed communication from the seller ever occurred.

Given my experience with this seller and their false advertising of items for sale and their lack of support after the purchase has been made I would say never order from this seller. Once they receive payment for an item that may not even be as advertised there seems to be no concern for the customer at that point. I would not recommend ever purchasing anything from this seller.

I will recount facts here and let readers reach their own conclusions. On Feb. 15th I placed a $3100 order on their website for a gold koala coin. The coin was listed as available, the order was accepted and payment was authorized through PayPal. Received confirmation email from Rettew Rare Coins. Emailed them back with a question about shipping. Email ignored. Next day tried a different contact email address provided by their website. Email ignored. Website never updated the status of my order. Emailed again next day requesting order status. Email ignored. Had to call 800 number, provided him my order number, he tells me that doesn't help him because their website is "a work in progress". Says they do most of their business on Ebay. So that excuses a useless website, I guess. After providing enough information so he can track down the order, he says he can't even say whether the coin is available, he'll have to check the bank vault and get back to me. Of course, he emails me back and says it isn't. Gold price increased in the interim so I can only speculate if that was a factor.

Website totally unreliable, emails ignored, items listed for sale "not available". Folks, there are a lot of good, honest and professional coin and bullion dealers out there, please reconsider if you're thinking about Joel Rettew Rare coins. Two stars because at least they refunded my money.

Please note that the review contradicting mine does not dispute any of the facts presented, so I would suspect the author is associated with the coin dealer and simply doesn't like the facts of this fiasco publicized.

Ordered from this company on Amazon. The coin was sent, presumably, since there was a tracking number, but the coin was lost in the mail. I tried communicating with them for days to resolve and could not get a response. I can’t speak to their honesty level, but I can tell you that their communication is very poor. Highly recommend going elsewhere.

Beware! Beware! Beware! He sells counterfeit coins on ebay & elsewhere. Ignores any attempt to "Do the right thing"! I wish i could have given him a negative score.
