My boyfriend and I just got our first apartment together and we are pleased with our decision. I love the layout of our apartment, the ceilings are beautiful we get a lot of compliments, the neighbors are nice, management is great too and, it’s overall a nice community to live in . Our experiences with management has met our needs and exceeded our expectations. All issues that we had in the beginning of our move were resolved immediately and nicely done, maintenance wise and quality. For example, We had an issue with our garbage disposal due to the previous tenants and they had a plumber out the next morning and replaced the garbage disposal (this happened around 8pm and the new one is amazing). They’ve also been making little modifications to make the outside of the apartments look nicer. Also, management is on top of everything, so there’s no homeless or random people wandering around, no packages being stolen, they protect us all here. We really love it here and appreciate management for always making sure we are taken care of. These apartments are perfect for first timers.

I enjoyed living here for the first year or so, then afterwards it went downhill. There were constant plumbing issues with flooding into my kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom ceiling, and drain backflow. I have plenty of video footage.

I still remember waking up to water dripping on my face because the upstairs neighbors had caused a flood in my entire unit. This was the middle of the night as I worked during the day. I had to rush upstairs to tell them to stop using water due to flooding. I had to also wake up my landlord about the flood. The husband, I think his name was Mike, came right over with a large vacuum and vacuumed the water off my floor. I had to call off work the next day because of the incident. Then in a few days, a professional carpet cleaner came and cleaned the carpet throughout my unit. It was just terrible. The landlord had told me that my unit was not the only unit experiencing plumbing issues, but all lower units experienced plumbing issues due to the apartment building being old. Repairs rarely happened. At one point, when I was not working nights and had given the landlord permission to enter my apartment, the handle for my kitchen sink came off as it was very poorly built. I reported it to the landlord, not the current landlord, and they kept telling me that it would be fixed "soon." The only way I was able to use my kitchen sink was with pliers connected where the handle was supposed to be (landlord actually did this). And when I first moved in, I noticed on of the bedroom sink drawers had a very sour odor (like many perfume scents and some kind of cleaning odor as well as being very filthy. The landlord at the time just sprayed fabreeze in it, then gave it back to me. Then when the tops of my blinds broke off due to wear and tear, I reported it and they put tape on it to "repair" it. It got to the point where I stopped asking for repairs, because what was the point? MacGyver could’ve done better repairs.

There was always so much animal fur in the washers/dryers from other tenant's pets. So much for the no pet policy. The laundry room was not well managed. The landlord apparently doesn't realize that pets with fur tend to leave fur on their owners clothes. So yes, there was in fact a lot of for inside the washers and dryers.

The landlord is rude and unethical. I wouldn’t recommend anyone living in this apartment. Run for the hills. The walls are so thin you can not only hear your neighbors conversations, but you can hear your neighbors using the toilet . A very poorly built apartment complex.

I do not have high standards. It's not high standards to want a peace of mind, be at ease, and to relax when at home. I was constantly paranoid that another flood would happen whenever the upstairs neighbors would run their water for an extended amount of time. I was always having to clean my tub before I showered due to constant dirty water backflow in my tub that left a gunky residue. And who wants to ALWAYS have to clean their tub before using it?

I apologize if my experience living here has offended you.

I left the apartment clean after moving out. I vacuumed, mopped, wiped down countertops, and cleaned within the stove. So, don’t say that I left the unit “extremely dirty.” I took pictures and video of the unit before turning over my keys to you, so please stop lying. I will attach the pictures of the unit so everyone can see how I left it and know that you’re a liar. Also, the carpet was used when I moved in, and it sustained water damage from the flooding caused by the upstairs unit.

ADA only covers service animals. Only dogs and min. horses can be service animals, not cats. FYI. ESA are pets, they are not service animals. The ADA has more info on their website if you're interested.

You shouldn’t be allowed to be a landlord. You are a bad representative of the complex. Good riddance.

I moved in a few months ago and i absolutely love this place! Management was always very helpful and friendly. Neighbors are very kind and welcoming. I’m a young firefighter and it can be difficult at times to schedule but that was never a problem since management always worked with me and made it a very easy and simple experience! I’m very grateful to live here and I highly recommend.

Loved the management here. Recently moved out due to a job transfer out of state, and have been apartment hunting again. Hard to find an awesome manager like the one here in San Diego! OMG. Suzanne was always always realistic and attentive. More than a few times she went out of her way to leave packages at my unit and always followed up with me after maintenance fixed something. Even when she was multi tasking in the office, she always greeted myself or other residents and acknowledge us. It’s hard to find decent customer care these days. They don’t make managers like her anymore. This is definitely a low key place to live if you’re looking for something in SD County.

Omg. Met the best property manager ever. I’ve been looking for something economical since I recently divorced. Suzanne in the office was so professional. The delivery driver even spoke to her so kindly when he ran into us during my apt tour. The other prop mgrs in SD always act so busy and bothered by perspective tenant foot traffic. It’s hard to find good basic customer service these days. Thx Suzanne.

I have lived on this property for over a year, and has been a very positive experience. It is quiet and peaceful, and the neighbors are very kind. El Capitan Apartments is quaint and located on a quiet street in Lakeside, and is a short walk to Lindo Lake County Park, and many shops and restaurants. The pool is always nice and clean, and is perfect for the hot summer days we get here in East County. The laundry machines are new, and paying for cycles is convenient. My favorite feature in the apartment are the wood panel ceilings. I only wish they hadn't painted over mine, because that would have looked really cool, but it still looks very nice!

The property manager who lives on-site is also very kind, and will take care of your needs in a very timely manner. She has handled many of my work orders myself, including fixing my heater when it started to get cold. Also, if you like humming birds, you can see a lot of them on the property, they are very cute! I highly recommend El Capitan Apartments 10/10!

We have had a lovely experience at the apartment complex, we've had no issues. No animal fur, no backing up. The repairs are fast. We have no issues with anything. The manager is very sweet and kind. She does a great job to make sure everything is in order. The neighbors are super nice and this place makes you feel comfortable.
