I have lived at two of their properties, The Renaissance and Union South Bay, both in Carson, CA. I had to move from The Renaissance because of poor management and minimum maintenance. I moved to Union South Bay because it had a different owner and management company. Everything was fine until Standard Communities bought it. I thought things would be okay because some of the old staff stayed. Unfortunately they could not work with new company and all eventually quit. Carlos, our maintenance supervisor, was excellent. It was quite noticeable when he left. Recyclables piled up in Loading Dock, doors would not open with fob. All in all it was the same experience I had at The Renaissance. Standard also raised rents around $200. They claim they lower rents; therefore the tax credits. I would advise anyone looking for a place to live to stay away from Standard properties. They are NOT maintained.
