We discovered Brecon after friends’ recommendation, loved their wine style, wines, and names (like Budgie Smuggler, which apparently you need to be Australian to understand), joined their club, received several shipments per year, and made our second visit for a member appreciation event. A library tasting in the cool cool cellar (blankets available) followed by an open tasting and charcuterie upstairs made us feel truly appreciated, which was the point. The highlights were the friendly and knowledgeable staff, 2017 Cab Franc, 2017 Feral Underclass (I told you they have great names), the incredible old Valley Oak tree in the outdoor tasting area, and Roy the Aussie Shepherd winery dog, who befriended me either because I gave him loves or because he was hoping I was either a pushover or that gravity was strong in the vicinity of my charcuterie plate. But I’m not a pushover and gravity was normal, so he moved on. Brecon has some of our favorite wines in Paso and it’s a great place to visit.

Brecon estate was suggested to us by someone at the Tobin James winery. It was our first time there and we were thrilled that we included this winery on our trip. Their wines were unique and delicious and we join the wine club that day. Make this a must stop on your trip through Paso.

Come for the wonderfully well-balanced and delicious wine. Stay because you love dogs and they do too!

We stopped by on a slow Monday late morning with perfectly sunny weather and a slight breeze with our pup. He spent a few minutes getting to know the winery dogs and then was happy as a clam playing with them and lounging in all of the wonderfully created nooks in the tasting area outside.

The wine was great, and we found one of the only Albariño varietals in Paso here. It didn’t disappoint. They also do a superbly intriguing Zinfandel/Tannat blend that strikes a balance that I haven’t tasted before and finishes with long-lasting notes of earth and berries. I revisited that one.

The tasting area is set at eye-level with one of their vineyards and amongst large trees, so the feeling is cosy and peaceful. The tasting counter faces both into an enclosed space and the outdoors, so the flow of the building feels seamless between inside and out. Lastly, the architecture is what I, not being an architect, would call something like industrial chic. It is very well done and imbues the establishment with class and character.

This was an unexpectedly great tasting experience, and I highly recommend it!

We’ve been here 4 times now... finally becoming members last weekend. We loved chatting about wine and things with Nikki and Mandy the last time on our honeymoon. Love the wine, love the tasting room, love the vibe, and love the atmosphere... amazing quality without the stuffiness of nearby wineries.

We tried a couple of Brecon wines at a tasting event last February and made a note to stop by on our next Paso trip. Made an appointment for Thursday afternoon. Because of Covid19 they are having tastings outside but it was a perfect warm, but not too warm sunny day.

The wines we tasted were all very good but we ended up buying a bottle of reserve Cabernet. There was a Syrah/Tannat on the back side of the menu that sounded interesting so I asked if we could try it. The tasting room manager said that they didn't have any of those wines open but I had heard another employee, (an older Caucasian gentleman) serve some to another group.

Overall it was a good experience but I wish they had given us some more information with the wines. Basically all they did was say, "This is such and such wine", pour and walk away. I like a little more personal touch in my tastings.

This is one of our very favorite wineries in Paso. Team is wonderful and make you feel like family, wines are D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S!!!!! They know how to throw a party too... went to our first pickup party and the paella and salad were so good. I can't say enough great things about Brecon!

What a gem of a winery! The Malbec is amazing. All the staff were wonderful. Amanda, one of the owners, was a hoot and delightful on a dreary afternoon. The tasting room manager was so knowledgeable. Siegfried and Roy (cat and dog) greeting you on arrival was a bonus too. I would label this a don’t miss.
