Me and my husband rent through here, have been renting just over a year. Anytime we have issues with the house they send some right away to fix it. Our A/C Broke over the summer they had someone come out the same day, recently we had a plumbing issue and again the same day someone was there to fix it. This is the second rental company we have been through and as far as fixing things that need to be done they get it done quickly.

I wouldn’t recommend working with this company, 1. You can never leave a voicemail due to the mailbox always being full. So that mean someone is clearly not doing their job or hire someone to take care of that for you. 2. Most of communication is through via text when you try to communicate through email no response. Then when you finally get someone they don’t never introduce themselves to let you know who you’re speaking with. You will always have to ask and let’s not talk about how neither of the two women I was working with are never on the same page . One will tell you one thing you call back the other one tells you something different as well. Very unprofessional and yes we did see the red flags, but my 60 year old mother has been trying to get in her own home for years now it’s something she wants that’s what we’ve been trying to provide for her, this company made us believe and get her hopes up that she will get this property just come to the very end of everything to decline it. After she was approved for her voucher etc. I guess because they think well it’s just “government assistance we don’t need it” is to why we got treated with so much disrespect and unprofessional behavior.
And let’s not talk about how they say yes I will call you back updates and NEVER do! Then when you call them they act as if they’re annoyed

I will just advise anyone not to work with company. Rather you paying out of pocket or government assistance don’t waste your time here! I’m really not bothered by the fact that they wasted our time. I think it was more the unprofessional tone and how they spoke to us as if we’re below them. No regards to how that may make someone feel! No empathy towards the situation what so ever!

Doesn’t even deserve a 1 star review!
The property management does not care about the tenants. They have no sense of urgency. You submit a work order and they will acknowledge the work order as complete and did nothing.
Had no hot water when first moving in and was told it was going to be fixed prior to us moving in. Went a month before they sent out a water heater that I had to install in the attic, due to them not being able to hire effective workers that know how to do the job. We had a very large mold spot over the kitchen that was asked to get fixed from the time we moved in. Had it looked at a couple of times and the last time it was looked at, the worker literally coated it with fresh white paint over a saggy molded hole that he put tape over to cover the hole to paint over. Nothing was done right or done at all. Had a toilet then go out in our guest bathroom and over flowed the bathroom and hallway and no water to our master bathroom but was told as long as we had a toilet that operated somewhere in the house along with water that would come out of the shower whether it was the master or guest that it wasn’t a problem that they needed to worry about and would not fix until it was in the convenience of them. The house and yard was trashed and the roof was damaged upon moving in that they were not going to fix until we brought up the fact of it being damaged and didn’t want to initially move in with it damaged. Then when stating that there was rodents in the attic, we were also told that was our problem as tenants.
So when giving them multiple opportunities to come and fix these simple problems that turned into bigger problems, we gave them proper notice that if not fixed by the next following month, that we would either A. Prorate rent so I could fix the known problems with the house myself or B. Leave due to unfit living conditions as my fiancé was pregnant and we were both getting sick from the mold and not having a proper bathroom to use as well.
When we were told that none of that was going to be handled because it wasn’t their problem, we then let them know that we would not be paying rent and terminating lease due to unfit living conditions.
Here we are 3 years later and I’m notified that they charged me for a $1,000 to collections on my credit when I’m trying to close on a home and I see they still have the same problems and horrible management. After weeks of trying to get a hold of them and pulling up to their closed location during their said operating business hours. I repeatedly called their direct line over and over again getting to a point where they’d send me straight to voicemail, I finally called enough back to back where I guess they were tired of seeing their phone ring, they answered and was shortly given a call back by Carolyn where she had the same attitude she had 3 years ago with me saying that she stated my collection bill should have been more due to breaking lease early but it’s crazy because the $1000 that she is stating that was owed wasn’t even the full price of rent that we paid a month so nothing is honestly adding up at this point and was told that I could have my attorney take it up with their attorney.
The management is a disgrace, and the fixer uppers that they purchase and rent out and state the damages will get fixed, will never get fixed. And coming from Carolyn’s mouth it’s not her problem.
DO NOT USE SOUTHERN REALITY!
THIS PLACE IS THE BIGGEST SCAM AND HEADACHE YOU’LL EVER HAVE!

Very poor company very racist against blacks moved my wife into a home that’s not move in ready trash in the yard boards concrete everywhere doors not sealed appliances was not even brand new floor model they don’t have any real contractors they barely pay the people they use now a/c ducts the refuse to clean broken windows they refuse to fix threaten us because refuse to pay did not stay one night in the house 330 Polk st stay far away this owner no good property management no good

My husband and I applied for a rental home, I called a few days later to see if it was approved but she said it hasn’t came back yet. I never heard anything from them and trying to get someone to answer the phone is almost impossible. $100 wasted!!

Update: About a month later I was called back. They wanted to go over the rental we applied for smh of course we had already found something else.

I've had better experiences. I dealt with Amelia mostly. It was difficult to get in touch with them, and had to wait for a while. The grass was really high at the first property I went too. Also the advertised price of one of the units was $650 a month, and when I looked at it was told to add $150 for utilities which was not disclosed. Also before I applied, I checked my credit scores and, while not great, were about 70-80 points higher than what my denied application came back showing it to be. After it was denied I pulled all 3 scores again and they were still 70-80 points higher than what I was told came back from the application. App fee down the drain. I asked if they worked with people who have lower credit or if they could recommend someone who would, I received no response. I guess the app fee could be some sort of income to someone if you get enough of them. It was about $50.

Please beware of leasing from this company. I leased from Southern Realty then found out, that my property manager and the owners, Weaver Investment Properties, LLC, are based out of California. I was unable to get in touch with Southern Realty after my application had been approved. Questions I had after discovering problems after move-in went unanswered because Southern Realty claimed they had no knowledge of what I could do about one of my first major issues of not having a stove for weeks. Make sure that the things Southern Realty promises you will be done, such as the lawn being mowed, or stove and dishwasher being delivered... etc., and are done on the day you receive your keys. The staff of Southern Realty was very friendly by the way, on the one or two occasions I was able to reach them by phone. Also, please read your lease carefully. If someone breaks into your house after you move-in, YOU will be responsible for repairing the damages. Renter's insurance WILL NOT cover this and the owners release themselves from all responsibility of fixing their own property (the physical damages), within the lease. Since this review is about Southern Realty I'll end by saying, I do not recommend leasing from this company.
