I have been leasing a commercial office from Alta properties for about 5 years. I was in a smaller space and moved to a larger space. I own and operate a small property management company, so i consider my self a qualified person to critique and write a review. Since day one Tom and his staff have been attentive, accommodating, and pleasant to deal with. When i moved units, they were fair and willing to work with me. I do not have a single complaint. Any maintenance issues have always been dealt with in a fast and professional manner, and all of the properties i have seen managed by Alta appear to be clean and well managed. They take pride in the properties they manage and it shows. Although i am in the same business and would normally never recommend another management company other then my company- In this case if your reading this review and are considering Alta properties for your property management needs i would 100% say that from my perspective they are a great management company and you can rest assured they will get the job done, and do it right and professional.

Alta Properties, contrary to the previous reviewer, maintains a high level of integrity, is consistently helpful, fair, honest, takes care of all rental business and related questions, and is fair in price. If you are a property owner and want to rent/lease units, they will screen prospective tenants, tell you what the going rates are in the area and for the unit size, and take care of any problems associated with the tenant/property and alert you when it is time to raise rent. They do not badger you with unimportant information but will answer any questions you pose.

I leased a room through Alta properties near USC and the stay was one of the best experiences of my life. Thomas scrutinizes the applicants and let's only the best among them stay in the rooms. He is very friendly, prompt and accommodating. If there were any repairs required, Alta properties would send a handyman ASAP to fix the problem. They care more about the people and the experience you have living in the house rather than how much money they can make out of you. I would definitely recommend renting through Alta Properties.

Stay away from Alta Properties if you can. Here is the story: My wife and I had been renting one of their apartments in Gardena and we're frequently troubled by the mice problems in our place, they had sent pest control over 2 times but the place is still remain unsealed and these critters could still crawl in from the beneath level (laundry room / garages). This problem persisted for a few months and finally one time mices appeared in our bedroom which freaked us out and next day we explained to Alta about the issue and demand the move out immediately. Tom acted like he was very understandable towards the situation and VERBALLY agreed we can move out ASAP and will only charge us for what we stayed that month from our deposit which is $1300. So I moved out by the end of 1st week and informed them about it and I was told it will take 3 weeks to get my deposit back. Ok now today I called Tom and he acted like he didn't agree upon anything and claimed he didn't find any rats/mice that I mentioned, OF COURSE because I CLEANED THE PLACE NICELY FOR YOU GUYS before I leave so they don't have any reasons to deduct from my deposit. I was politely explained / reminding him about the special condition why we had to move out and basically he was just trying to goof it off and pretend he didn't agree anything. He is NOT a man of his words, what a scumbag for being 50 years old. Then I proceed to tell him I will discuss with legal personels about this matter and take actions against him and he gave me a simple "OK" and hung up. Well guess what Alta, I have all the evidences of mices being caught at my apartment, there was total of 10-12 of them within a few months. It was out of control. We won't easily tolerate these people simply they think we are young individuals who are scared of cooperates. Guess what, we own companies too and we know exactly what you are doing. You guys are not getting away with this I promise.

As a first-time home buyer, Melissa (at Alta Properties) was instrumental in finding, negotiating, and ensuring that all the paperwork and funding was completed to successfully get me into my first home. Prior to working with Melissa, I had utilized the generic agent connection tool found on real estate apps such as Zillow and Redfin. Unfortunately, the “marketed” agents (since I was bombarded with many emails from various realty companies) provided by those sites, were far less personal and did not provide me with the confidence needed for such a big life-changing transaction.

Melissa’s organizational skills (i.e. scheduling viewings, providing a list of reputable lenders/insurance agents, etc.), communication skills, and ability to simplify ALL the paperwork, truly separated her from the previously mentioned “marketed” agents. She is knowledgeable of the real estate market and provided valuable insight throughout the whole process. This was especially, helpful in negotiating the price down by over $15,000 from the listed price. Lastly, her overall personality and organized professional demeanor, ensured that my first home purchase was as stress-free and enjoyable as possible!

I really don't quite understand the negative reviews. The Alta staff was very nice and friendly. They were very helpful in finding us just the right kind of condo for us up in Los Angeles. I highly recommend Alta.

I called this company a lady answered then transferred me to a guy which you can tell off the bat he lacks of customer service, first off he didn't even present himself. So I went on asked him regarding a property he gave me full detail information about, I asked him if I can schedule an appointment to view it and he responded with I suggest for you to go see through the outside first, then I replied with my husband viewed it and he told me to call to schedule an appointment. He said oh yeah, what color is the house then? I replied with idk my husband was who saw the house and he said no! call me back when you go see it again. I hung up and was shook of how rude this person was. I didn't even ask him for his suggestions, he works in a office which he gets paid to answer the phone and attend us with courtesy. If you don't like your job then why are you there! So I called back hoping someone else would answer and he answered AGAIN, I politely asked if I can have the direct number of the owner for so and so property and he stuttered so much he didn't even know what excuse to give me he was like uhm no uhm I can't uhm he gives us the property to handle everything uhm I cant give you his direct phone number, I ask okay what about his email then he replied with no he doesn't like talking to you people. (WHO HIRED THIS PERSON!) So I asked him what was his name and he's like my company is called Alta Properties and I said I am asking for your name and he's like I don't have to give you my name I was like okay you work there answer the phone and you say you don't have to give me your name? He's like no I don't I said okay can I speak to your supervisor or your manager and he said no they're on vacation I said someone else besides you and he said no, no one is here. I told him I had called earlier and a lady answer and I ask if I can speak to her and he said no because she was in lunch I asked when was she back he said at 5pm. I guarantee you thats the time the company closes. THIS COMPANY HAS REALLY BAD REVIEWS AND THEY'RE ALL REGARDING THE LACK OF SERVICE OF THIS MAN OR EMPLOYEES. YOU WILL BE GETTING A COMPLAINT TO BBB BECAUSE YOUR COMPANY CONSISTS OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND YOUR COMPANIES SERVICE IS AWFAL! I CHECKED ALL REVIEWS AND PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINT FOR 6 SIXS YEARS AND THE MANAGER FROM THIS SO CALLED COMPANY DOESN'T TAKE A MINUTE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
